Katie Holmes will have the honour of portraying a former First Lady for the second time in her acting career, the 35 year-old actress will reprise her role as Jackie Kennedy Onassis in the forthcoming Reelz Channel miniseries 'The Kennedys: After Camelot.'

In 2011, Holmes played Jackie in the original eight-part miniseries, titled 'The Kennedys,' starring alongside Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper and Tom Wilkinson. The 'After Camelot' series will be feature four one-hour episodes, and is expected to premiere in 2016.

Holmes will not only serve as an executive producer on the series, but she will also direct one of the episodes. Jon Cassar will return to take the helm of the other three, and will also executive produce.

"The Kennedys was a brilliant execution of storytelling based on the lives of one of the world's best known families. We are delighted that we were able to step up and acquire the broadcast rights to that property and we have every confidence that this new miniseries will be as enthusiastically received as the last one," Stan E. 'The Kennedys: After Camelot,' which is based on Randy Taraborrelli's book 'After Camelot: A Personal History of the Kennedy Family 1968 to the Present,' was penned by Stephen Kronish, who essentially wrote the original series.
