Katie Hopkins has become the latest celebrity to launch a criticism of Rita Ora’s accession to ‘The X Factor’s panel, predicting that the pop star will be “hopeless” on the ITV show when it returns in September.

“If her time on ‘The Voice’ is anything to go by, she will be hopeless at telling the truth, congratulate everyone no matter how poorly they perform and fail to get a single act through to the final,” the acid-tongued Hopkins wrote in her regular column in The Sun on Friday (June 19th).

Having spent one season as a judge on the BBC’s own reality talent contest ‘The Voice’ earlier in 2015, Ora accepted a reported £1.5 million deal to jump networks earlier this weeks. She’ll be taking the place of the exiting Mel B, and will also be joining fellow newcomer Nick Grimshaw on the panel, who in turn is replacing Louis Walsh.

Hopkins’ displeasure might be one of the few occasions that she has accurately reflected what virtually everybody else is thinking, as Cowell’s appointment of the 24 year old chart star to the judging panel has been roundly trashed on social media and by many celebrity onlookers and pundits.

Polly Hudson, writing in The Mirror, wrote another particularly scabrous verdict on Ora’s appointment that suggested ten better choices that ITV could have made, including the author’s own 10-month old child. Ouch.

In any case, Ora is understandably excited at her move to ITV, doing her best to block out the haters by tweeting: “Journalists please bring positivity back into the world. Don't just try and get readers (if you have any) and waste their brain space with rubbish!”
