Pop star Katy Perry has revealed she almost landed a small role opposite Emma Stone and Viola Davis in The Help but her recording schedule forced her to turn it down.
The Firework singer, who made her acting debut in U.S. TV comedy How I Met Your Mother last year (11), tells Teen Vogue magazine she was in talks for a part in the hit period movie, which landed an Oscar nomination for Best Film.
She says, "There was a time when I was going to be involved in The Help - just a small part; I wasn’t going to be Emma Stone or anything - but I couldn’t because the shooting schedule conflicted with the release of my record.
"I was upset about that; I knew it was going to be an important film. Not that I need to do drama first, but I do want to do something that makes a strong impression."
Perry refuses to speculate on what role she may have been offered or whether it was played by someone else in the film.
