Katy Perry posted, "IT'S TIME! TEENAGEDREAM!" on her Twitter page on Tuesday 24th August 2010 to mark the release of her new album 'Teenage Dream'. The pop sensation and fiance British comedian Russell Brand had been counting down to the release with her online followers, tweeting, "A few more hours.... I have christmas eve jitters", shortly before the record's official release.
Perry began recording 'Teenage Dream' - her third album - back in October 2009, and called in a few fellow musicians to help her along the way, including Weezer front-man Rivers Cuomo. The first single, 'California Gurls' hit shelves on May 7th 2010, after which Perry told Rolling Stone, "It's been a minute since we had a California song and especially from a girl's perspective. We took the references of Prince, which is always a great reference, and some of the '90s, almost house music references". The song is said to be a direct response to JAY-Z'S New York City song, 'Empire State of Mind'.
Billboard are reporting that the GRAMMY AWARD winning artist is set to release the third single 'Firework' - from 'Teenage Dream' in October 2010, this follows the release of the album's title track, which peaked at number 5 in the Billboard Hot 100.
