Katy Perry has teamed up with both Funny Or Die and Rock The Vote to get young people to register in time for the presidential elections in November, coming up with an innovative way to communicate the message - pledging to cast her vote while naked!

In the wake of the first presidential debate on Monday night (September 26th), the 31 year old pop star wrote on Instagram: “TOMORROW, I USE MY BODY AS CLICK BAIT TO HELP CHANGE THE WORLD.”

It proved to be a teaser for a video released the following morning, in which Perry appeared totally nude.

“This year, you can look like s*** when you vote,” the ‘Rise’ hitmaker said. “Yup, I've briefly scanned the Constitution, and nowhere does it say you can't just roll out of bed and come to the polls in whatever state you woke up in. In the name of democracy, any 'just out of bed' look is A-OK.”

She then said she planned to vote completely nude – adding “let those babies loose” – before two cops swooped in to arrest her. “Scratch that. Gotta wear clothes. My bad,” she told the camera.

Perry has become increasingly vocal about her political beliefs this year. Back in July, she took to the stage at the Democratic National Convention, where she not only performed two songs but also publicly threw her support behind Clinton for the party’s nomination.

“Both of my parents are pastors and staunch Republicans,” Perry told the audience in Philadelphia. “I didn’t finish high school… unfortunately, I don’t have a formal education. But I do have an open mind, and I have a voice. I’m asking you to have an open mind and to use your voice. Here’s how I’m going to use my voice: I’m going vote for Hillary Clinton.”

Asked in a recent interview what she was looking forward to hearing about in the forthcoming series of debates, which see Clinton face off against Republican candidate Donald Trump, she replied. “National security, gun control, police reform, excess incarceration and women's rights… Oh, I forgot mental health awareness.”
