The latest romp from animation heroes Pixar, 'Brave', will have its first official release this weekend over in the United States, with the arrow-slinging adventure not set to hit our shores until August this year.

To compensate us Brits somewhat, Pixar and Disney have just released an extended version of the trailer however, in a bid to wet our appetites enough to wait until the end of summer.

For those still unfamiliar with the story, it tells a tale of Merida (Kelly MacDonald) a headstrong, independent young princess destined for a life of lady-like grace and poise, although Merida would much rather be riding her horse and honing her already impressive archery. When she is told that she will be getting married off to competing Lords as part of an ancient tradition, it's the last straw.

Riding off to cool her temper, Merida finds an old witch (Julie Walters) who offers the young woman a chance to change her fate. But when she accepts, she doesn't realise the impact it'll have not only on her, but on her father, King Fergus (Billy Connelly), her mother Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson) and everyone in their kingdom.

Whilst praise for this film has not been as universal as previous Pixar releases just yet, I am sure that 'Brave' will be as impressive a spectacle and riveting a story as each of Pixar's films have proved to be in the past. Brave hits cinemas here in the UK on August 17.
