Kevin Hart Once Again Denies Cheating Rumours

Kevin Hart

Comedian and entertainer Kevin Hart has once again taken to social media to brush off renewed allegations that he cheated on his wife, suggesting that he’s treating the media circus as fresh material for his routine.

The 38 year old comedian took to Instagram on Monday (August 21st) to directly address the latest developments.

“That moment when you meet somebody on the street that knows more about your life than you - huh?!” he exclaimed. “I'm at a point where I can't even be shocked anymore. All I do is laugh, man. I had a person tell me what they felt was factual information about me while they were talking to me.”

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie Review

Very Good

There's so much manic energy in this animated action comedy that it can't help but entertain pretty much everyone in the audience, from kids who like fart jokes to adults who will enjoy the surprisingly sweet exploration of childhood friendship. Indeed, the central thrust of the film is resonant with meaning, which nicely grounds the outrageously colourful silliness.

The buddies at the centre are George and Harold (voiced by Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch), pranksters who keep the other students at their school doubled up in laughter. But of course this also makes them the primary nemeses of Principal Krupp (Ed Helms) and the class tattletale Melvin (Jordan Peele). In desperation, Krupp declares that he is moving George and Harold into separate classes. And in a moment of panic, the boys somehow manage to hypnotise Krupp into believing that he's Captain Underpants, the nutty superhero from the comics they draw in their treehouse. But as they're enjoying their power over the principal, a more threatening villain appears in the form of their humour-hating new science teacher, Professor P (Nick Kroll).

While the movie is a little too manic for its own good, there's plenty to enjoy here. Not only does the story work on a variety of levels, but it's animated in a range of visual styles, from the somewhat plasticky main story to more intriguing traditional animation, flip-books, pen and ink, comic strips and even sock puppets. Every scene is packed with unexpected twists and visual invention. Nothing about this movie sits still for long, bouncing through its wacky story without pausing for breath. And the knowing style of humour makes even the most vulgar humour disarmingly hilarious.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Trailer

It's been over twenty years since the release of the award-winning family adventure starring Robin Williams, and now Jumanji is back with an all new game - and this time, it's gone to console.

Spencer (Alex Wolff), Bethany (Madison Iseman), Fridge (Ser'Darius Blain) and Martha (Morgan Turner) are four high school kids who could not be more different from each other. Spencer's a big time geek and serious gamer, Bethany's super popular, Fridge is a jock and Martha's a bit of a social outcast. Somehow, however, they find themselves all in the same detention, and are forced to spend time with each other while cleaning out the basement.

Of course, this isn't the bonding exercise they would have expected. Pretty soon they come across a super retro computer console with a game on it called Jumanji. Bored out of their minds, they decide to play together, picking characters at random. As you can probably predict, they get sucked into the reality of the game and find themselves in the bodies of their adult avatars in the middle of a jungle.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie Teaser Trailer

When they are not wreaking havoc at their school with a variety of impressive pranks, they are writing and illustrating their very own comic book series based on their character Captain Underpants. Their fun is threatened, however, by their mean principal Mr. Krupp who wants to split up the 9-year-old besties for good to prevent any more mischievous antics. Determined not to be separated, they decide to hypnotize the teacher into being convinced that he is the real Captain Underpants. As hilarious as that may sound, the kids have a hard time looking after him as he gets into all sorts of trouble trying to save people. Ride Along 2 Review

Bad

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart reteam for a sequel no one really asked for, following up their lacklustre 2014 action-comedy with a film that's even lazier. While the first one at least had a sense of pacing, with humour that sometimes tipped from idiotic to mildly funny, this movie wastes its cast and premise on a series of witless action sequences, dopey slapstick and contrived relational touches. It's only watchable because Hart is able to make the most undemanding audience members chuckle now and then.

After proving that his video-gaming skills were useful in police work, Ben (Hart) has completed police academy and is working as a rookie, shadowing tough-guy detective James (Cube), whose sister Angela (Tika Sumpter) is marrying Ben in just a week. But before that happens, James and Ben head to Miami to follow a lead in a drug case they're working on. Alongside local tough-girl detective Maya (Olivia Munn), they track down a hacker (Ken Jeong) who has proof that local philanthropist Antonio (Benjamin Bratt) is actually a notorious global black market dealer. To prove that, they have to dive into a series of car and boat chases, plus heists and shootouts that never seem to go the way anyone expects.

The underlying story is exactly the same as the first film: James is trying to prove that Ben is an idiot, while he is actually softening James' rough edges. The difference here is that they know each other a bit better, so are more effective at getting under each others' skin. This means that they're even less likeable than before, and even Hart's non-stop comical chatter is more annoying than it is amusing. There are moments when Hart adds a tiny detail that elicits a smile from viewers, and some of his physical antics are so ridiculous that it's difficult not to giggle, but most of that is simply because it's unbelievable that the filmmakers thought any of this was genuinely funny.

However, Ben hasn't changed much, and still makes dumb decisions, bringing a lot of embarrassment on to James. If life wasn't stressful enough, the soon to be brothers are forced to team up with Miami PD to uncover a major drugs operation. Ever wondered what your pets get up to when you're not around? Well, put it this way; your furniture, kitchen appliances, soft furnishings and even tomorrow's dinner are not safe. Some pets are ever faithful, however, such as the terrier Max who is showered with attention from his loving owner. But things get complicated when he is introduced to his owner's new pet; a mongrel named Duke, who he is determined not to let become the favourite. While they might not initially get on, their rivalry is the least of their worries when they discover that a resentful neighbourhood rabbit named Snowball is organising a plot of vengeance against all the well-loved pets in town, as well as their owners, on behalf of those less fortunate who have been abandoned on the street.

Very Good

Chris Rock has essentially written and directed a film based on one of his own standup routines, and the result is as hilarious as we'd expect. It's also a clever skewering of show business, from the difficulty of changing a public image to the never-ending intrusion of the press. But while the film is consistently smart and funny, it's also a bit of an inside joke, taking on an industry that's so absurd that ridiculing it might be too easy.

Rock plays Andre Allen, a former comic who found international fame playing a furry police officer in three Hammy The Bear movies. But now he wants some respect as an actor, so he has produced a serious period drama called Uprize!, about the 18th century Haitian revolution. On the day of the film's gala premiere, Andre grants an interview to New York Times journalist Chelsea (Rosario Dawson), who follows him around town as he runs errands both promoting the film and preparing for his heavily publicised wedding to reality TV star Erica (Gabrielle Union). Against his better judgement, he begins to drop his guard with Chelsea, introducing her to members of his family and inviting her to his bachelor party, which is being staged for Erica's show.

The film's one false note is the whiff of a romantic-comedy as Andre and Chelsea begin to open up to each other. Fortunately, Rock allows this to merely simmer in the background as he gets on with his wicked commentary about life in the entertainment industry. The dialogue is packed with pithy observations, sarcastic gags and knowing jabs that could only come from someone who has lived (and survived) this crazy lifestyle. Even more interesting are the darker undercurrents. Andre is a recovering alcoholic who isn't sure he can still be funny now that he's sober.
