The hip hop star was hoping to launch Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' on 30 September (16), but he took to Twitter on the eve of the planned release to reveal the project had been held up.

"Due to some minor sample clearances being finalized, we miss our deadline for tonight (sic)," he explained.

Cudi's personal life then took a hit as he checked into a rehabilitation facility in early October (16) after admitting he was suffering from severe depression and suicidal tendencies.

He stepped back into the spotlight a month later as he hit the stage at ComplexCon in Long Beach, California and performed a set alongside special guests Pharrell Williams and Travis Scott.

Now Cudi is gearing up for a return to the charts after setting 16 December (16) as the digital release date for Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin'.

The album, the follow-up to 2015's Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven, features appearances from OutKast's Andre 3000, Pharrell Williams, Travis Scott, and Willow Smith.
