The world is no stranger to eerily obsessed fans spending money to look like their celebrity idol but every so often an individual comes along who tips the scale. Memories of the "youth-obsessed" Justin Bieber fan aren't buried deep enough in our minds to prepare for Essex resident Claire Leeson and her passion for being Kim Kardashian.

Leeson has made headlines after having reportedly spent £20,000 on altering all aspects of her image to emulate her reality TV star icon. From boob jobs to teeth whitening, bum enhancements to a new wardrobe; the 24 year-old has shelled out heavy currency to attain a "Kim" level of fakeness.

Whilst we'll admit that yes, under certain lighting and with certain filters, Leeson could be Kim's doppelganger, her TV appearance on This Morning shows that even money can't buy Kim's distinctively sculpted facial features and shapely body, which the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star herself has spent thousands attaining.

But wait - and here's the violins moment - Leeson's questionable mindset has been attributed to bullying she experienced at school. She claims to have undergone surgery because bullies made her feel like she was unattractive to the point where she attempted to take her own life.

"When I get my Kimmy on I feel like I'm unstoppable and untouchable and I feel like no one can stop me and I can make something of myself," she said on TV, adding "I feel strong. and I feel that I have built enough confidence to love myself a little bit more."

That's all well and good but surely Leeson must have a high-powered career to fund her addiction? Nope, the Chelmsford resident has maxed out several credit cards to pay for her body modifications and admits her debts are "up to [her] eyeballs" leading to bailiff letters.

So, what's the moral of the story here? The tabloids win again: a controversial individual justifies their bizarre addiction with a sob story before the news uses the tale to comment on the state of the buy-now-pay-later, debt-laden younger generations.
