The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills regular, who is Paris Hilton's aunt, was taken into custody in April, 2015 after refusing to leave the Beverly Hills Hotel in California following an altercation.

She was subsequently charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, and battery upon a peace officer, but struck a plea deal in August (15) to avoid jail time.

As part of the agreement, she was placed on three years of probation, sentenced to 30 days of community labour, and ordered to attend 52 weeks of Alcoholics Anonymous classes.

However, on Friday (29Apr16), prosecutors headed back to court and asked for an arrest warrant to be issued amid accusations Richards has failed to attend the AA meetings.

The warrant was approved by a judge, who set her bail at $26,000 (£17,800), according to TMZ.com. The reported violation could result in further jail time for Richards if she does not provide proof of her attendance.

It's the latest legal setback for the 51-year-old. Her lawyer had previously won a delay in Richards' community service requirement, citing a foot injury which hampered his client's movement, but the judge questioned the excuse after the reality star was photographed wearing high heels at a red carpet event.

She was subsequently summoned to appear in court on 1 June (16) to provide a doctor's note for her injury, or prove she has registered to kickstart her community labour.

Richards, who has struggled with alcohol issues in the past, is also serving a similar sentence for a separate charge of shoplifting relating to an incident in August (15). She was ordered to complete 300 hours of community service, three years probation, and 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings after reaching a plea deal in that case, too.
