Earlier this month former Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle gave birth to her first baby daughter. Nadine announced to her Twitter followers on February 10th: ‘I am overjoyed to let you know that our little girl is here. She is amazing! I love being a mammy & will fill you all in soon’ and has since not updated her profile, clearly she is taking time off from social media to enjoy spending time with the new addition to her family.

Fellow Girls Aloud alumni, Kimberley Walsh, took to the social media site this afternoon to let fans know that she will also become ‘a mammy’ (Nadine’s words - not Kimberley’s!) before the year is out. Kimberley tweeted this afternoon: ‘Justin and I are so happy to let you all know we are having a baby!! Couldn’t wait to share our lovely news with you all’. Her best friend Cheryl was also overjoyed by the news, taking to Instagram to congratulate her former band mate.

Kimberley was born in Bradford in 1981, and got her first taste of stardom appearing in an ASDA advert alongside her sister when she was still a child. She also starred as young Cosette in a production of Les Miserables, before attending theatre school in her home city.

Like Cheryl Cole, Kimberley got her first huge break after auditioning for talent competition Popstars: The Rivals back in 2002. She was teamed up with Nadine, Cheryl, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts who went on to become the hugely successful Girls Aloud. Together the band achieved twenty top ten hits as well as four number ones.

When the group took a break from recording back in 2010 Kimberley returned to her childhood vocation and tried her hand at acting and presenting, becoming the presenter on a music chat show ‘Suck My Pop’ and starring in Horrid Henry: The Movie. Walsh has also starred as Princess Fiona in the West End production of Shrek the Musical and was also a contestant on BBC show Strictly Come Dancing. Last year she released her autobiography entitled A Whole Lot of History which discusses her ten years in the industry as well as her relationship with her other band mates and Cheryl Cole.

Kimberley has been in a relationship with Justin Scott, also a former pop group member, for over ten years, so it really is splendid news to hear that the pair are finally having a baby.

The Daily Mail announced in July 2013 that Kimberley has been back in the studio, working on her second solo album which is due for release in 2014. We wonder if the album is still on track now that Kimberley has announced her pregnancy or if she has more important things on her mind?
