Kristen Bell is to star alongside her husband Dax Shepard in a remake of 'CHiPs'.

The 35-year-old beauty - who starred in the 'Frozen' movie in 2013 - has agreed to appear in the much-anticipated film based on the iconic TV show, with her husband also assuming directing duties, TheWrap reports.

The movie will feature performances from 'Ant-Man' star Michael Pena, as well as Adam Brody, Rosa Salazar and Vincent D'Onofrio, the latter of whom has been cast in a villainous role.

News of Kristen's casting comes after she opted to take the summer off from acting, as she wanted to spend time with her children, daughters Lincoln, two, and nine-month-old Delta.

Speaking in May, she shared: ''I'm going to mommy them the whole summer. I'm going to take my girls out and about, and do crafts and art projects. We just got a bunch of plants at the farmers market and we're going to plant a big garden this summer.''

Kristen also revealed the challenge she and her husband face in balancing their careers with family life.

She said: ''We're trying to have only one parent working at a time. Since I just finished 'Michelle Darnell,' the movie with Melissa McCarthy, I'll take the summer off and Dax will be working.''
