Please don’t let this be an elaborate joke, but Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have reportedly teamed up for a Lifetime original movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Entitled A Deadly Adoption, the film is said to be deliberately poking fun at the Lifetime genre to celebrate 25 years of the network’s original movies.

Ferrell and Wiig will reportedly play a ‘successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman with the hopes of adopting her unborn child’, before things take a turn for the worse. Former ‘90210’ actress Jessica Lowndes is said to also be starring, with the film set for an early summer debut.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the movie will be ‘campy and fun’ and ‘a contemporary wink at the genre’ which Lifetime created 25 years ago. Ferrell’s ‘Funny or Die’ partner Adam McKay is set to executive produce through his Gary Sanchez Productions.

The script has been penned by Andrew Steel, who wrote 'The Spoils of Babylo'n which also teamed Ferrell and Wiig in 2013. Directing will be  Rachel Lee Goldenberg, with Steele, Sharon Bordas, Fernando Szew and Jessica Elbaum also acting as executive producers.

As the news first broke on April 1st many were of course sceptical that this was an April Fools prank. But Time.com reports that Lifetime has confirmed that the story is not a prank and apparently, Ferrell is a huge fan of the Lifetime genre.

You can't blame people for being sceptical on this one, however. The idea of Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig sharing the screen on Lifetime does sound too good to be true, but fingers crossed this one does happen, as we can’t wait to see the finished product!
