Sia And Labrinth Reminds Us What It Is 'To Be Human'

Sia Labrinth

Sia Furler has unveiled a brand new tune with Labrinth entitled 'To Be Human' for the forthcoming 'Wonder Woman' soundtrack. It's the final cut on the full movie album (coming next week) and comes alongside a score by award-winning film composer Rupert Gregson-Williams.

'To Be Human' is a soaring, almost ambient, theme made all the more stunning by Sia's husky, flawless vocals. It's predictably super catchy - definitely one of those 'play on repeat until you know all the words' songs - and Labrinth's contrasting input gives a sensational layered effect that's going to make this a Best Original Song Oscar contender.

Camp Bestival 2013 took over the weekend (August 2nd - 4th) at Lulworth Castle in Dorset last week, with some superb live headline and DJ sets each day.

It was an eclectic line-up of artists both legendary and newly emerging and ranging from the underground cult favourites to the more chartworthy pop stars. Richard Hawley, formerly of Britpop band Longpigs and Pulp, played an awesome headline set on day one with an array of different electric guitars. He shared the stage with 'I'm Gonne Be (500 Miles)' hitmakers The Proclaimers as well as reggae veteran Max Romeo, Manchester trio I Am Kloot and folk punk activist Billy Bragg.

Labrinth Attempts Stage Dive: Fails. [Video]

Labrinth

Labrinth was left bruised in more ways than one after no one made an effort to catch the rapper as he attempted a stage dive at the University of Kent's summer ball on Saturday night (1st June).

Following Miguel's similar Billboard blunder, Labrinth dived straight into a crowd who didn't catch him. The 'Beneath Your Beautiful' singer took down "50 crowd members" as he ploughed through, plummeting to the ground.

Signed to Simon Cowell's label, the Hackney-born record producer is used to "hitting the deck" at gigs - but not usually this kind.

Olly Murs Union J James Arthur Conor Maynard Labrinth Rizzle Kicks Stooshe Little Mix

Union J have been announced as one of the acts appearing at this year’s Alton Towers Live event. The former X Factor contestants will be appearing alongside the likes of Olly Murs, Labrinth Rizzle Kicks, James Arthur, Stooshe, Conor Maynard and Little Mix at the event, which takes place on July 6th, 2013. Union J were eliminated from series nine of X Factor, in the semi-finals, when they were just narrowly beaten in the public vote by Christopher Maloney.

Tickets for Alton Towers Live 2013 go on sale via www.aeglive.co.uk on Friday March 1, 2013 at 9am. They start at £55, which includes not only the concert performances but also entry to the theme park, with its well-known array of rollercoasters and other attractions. Punters will have access to The Smiler, which is scheduled to open in May and is a new world-first for Alton Towers. The Smiler is described by Celebritain.com as “the Alton Towers Resort’s biggest ever ride and will combine plunging drops and extreme turns with twisted psychological effects.”

The line-up for Alton Towers Live reads like a who’s-who of British pop talent, right now and boasts a roster that managed to snare five 2013 Brit Award nominations between them. The one-day event is expected to be hugely popular, with Britain’s best homegrown talent all on the same bill.

Can 'Candy' Take The Crown? Robbie Williams Headed For Number One

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Rylan Clark Greg James Labrinth Fun

Robbie Williams last scored a number one single in 2004 but the former Take That star looks as though he’s heading for the top of the charts this weekend 'with his latest single ‘Candy,’ according to NME.com. It’s the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album Take The Crown and has sold 73,000 copies so far, since its release.

Sales will have been buoyed by his appearance on last week’s X Factor show, during which he joked with his Take That pal Gary Barlow about his support for the controversial contestant on the show, Rylan Clark. When he was asked by Radio One’s Greg James (who presents the station’s weekly official chart show) what he would do if he got the number one slot this Sunday (November 4, 2012), he replied that he would “stay in, look for UFOs, get fat and beardy again.” Robbie’s last number one single was ‘Radio,’ which coincided with the release of his Greatest Hits album in 2004. His ninth studio album, Take The Crown, will be released on November 5, 2012.

Last week, Labrinth and Emeli Sande’s duet ‘Our Version Of Events’ also hit the top spot, after they had performed live on X Factor, though they have slipped to third place, in the midweek charts analysis. The X Factor effect shouldn’t be underestimated. Fun have just leapt 29 places with ‘We Are Young’, after they also appeared on the TV talent contest in the UK.

On The Shelves: UK Album Release Round-Up, October 29, 2012: Neil Young, Madness, Kylie Minogue, Calvin Harris, Skyfall OST

Psychedelic Pill is the 35th studio album from Neil Young and was written and recorded in collaboration with his sometime band, Crazy Horse, marking their first album of original material since Greendale in 2003. As with many of Young’s latter-day releases, the quality is less than consistent. Reviews from The Guardian and the Independent suggest that Psychedelic Pill contains “moments of majesty,” (The Independent) as well as some less impressive tracks. It’s unlikely that any of this week’s releases are going to shake Taylor Swift from her throne at the top of the UK album chart but with reassuring reviews in the mainstream press, Psychedelic Pill should prove popular amongst Young’s considerable fanbase.

Also released today is the interestingly-titled Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da, by veteran ska-pop band Madness. It’s the tenth studio album from Madness and contains 14 new tracks, as well as cover art from the ever popular pop-art legend Peter Blake (he designed the cover for The BeatlesSgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band). The Guardian gave the album an impressive 3 stars out of 5 but can Madness really recapture the youthful exuberance of their glory days, with this latest album? It seems unlikely that they’ll continue to enjoy the success that they experienced in years gone by.

Labrinth And Emeli Sande Climb To The Top Of The UK Singles Chart

Labrinth Naughty Boy Taylor Swift Adele Swedish House Mafia Calvin Harris Florence Welch

Labrinth and Emeli Sande marked an impressive end to the week in the charts, as their collaborative effort, 'Beneath Your Beautiful', took the top spot thanks to an appearance on The X Factor over the weekend.

It didn’t matter who was voted to stay on the show, as the London rapper and Scotish singer Sandé proved to be the real winners of the weekend, and Emeli in particular had a weekend worth writing home about. Her collaboration with Labrinth went from 85 to number one in the charts over the space of a week, whilst her other collaboration, with rapper Naughty Boy, made it to number 10 in the charts. Her album, Our Version of Events, re-entered the upper echelons of the charts for the umpteenth time this year too, coming in second place behind Taylor Swift and her new album, Red.

Sandé’s album is the highest selling album of 2012 now, with Adele’s 21 finally being knocked from its perch. The rest of the top three was made up of Swedish House’s ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ and Calvin Harris and Florence Welch’s collab. ‘Sweet Nothing’ take numbers two and three respectively. Meanwhile, on the eve of the film’s release, Adele’s Bond theme ‘Skyfall’ fell down to seventh.
