Singer Lady GaGa has eaten her words and told her fans to stop sending Perez Hilton death threats, despite her having once egged them on. She began a feud with her former friend Hilton, creator of the gossip website of the same name a while back, accusing him of being "sick" and "stalking" her.

As reported by The Daily Mail, the pop star was alerted by a fan that Perez had been spotted in and around the New York building she lives in, which provoked a furious Twitter tirade: "STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!"

She is also said to be angry that Perez helped circulate the illegal leakage of her latest single, 'Applause," and that he sent her mean messages when she was in a wheelchair earlier this year due to hip problems. "Still have the text Perez sent me of me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me. Day of my accident," she tweeted, working her fans into a frenzied storm of hatred.

However, on Sunday (18th Aug) Perez posted a lengthy statement on his website, entitled "A Statement On Lady GaGa's Lies," explaining that when he was accused of stalking Gaga, he was in fact house-hunting in the same district of New York. Hilton laments the loss of his relationship with Gaga; the friend who he used to call "wifey." He airs the hope that her fans stop sending him death threats as he poses no danger to the singer, adding that the threats were now putting him and his young family in danger.

"While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a "stalker"," writes Perez finishing up with "I do wish Lady GaGa happiness and continued success and I assure you my family house hunting has nothing to do with her."

The pair became friends at the beginning of Gaga's career but are no longer on such good terms due to reasons that, for Perez, are "still too painful for [him] to go into detail about." Even Gaga realised it had gone too far when her fans were united in a torrent of abuse, threats and ill-wishes.

Speaking via her Tumblr page, she too wrote a long statement condemning any vicious words tweeted on her behalf: "Sending threats of any kind, using hateful or abusive language, and the provoking of others on the internet is not supported by me or anything that I stand for. What I've seen transpiring is wrong and upsetting to me, and I've made it very clear how I feel about equality and compassion."

The wasp's nest has been kicked and the monsters are loose: even Gaga herself can't stop them now!
