At the Teen Choice Awards, held on Sunday 11th August, Lea Michele dedicated her award to Cory Monteith. Michele won the award for Choice Actress in a Comedy for her role as Rachel Berry in Glee.

Michele lost her boyfriend and Glee co-star over a month ago and has attempted to remain out of the public eye since. Monteith died on July 13th, aged just 31, he was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room. The British Columbia coroner ruled his cause of death was a lethal mix of heroin and alcohol.

Michele took to the stage to the sound of Glee's version of Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' She appeared on stage supported by her co-stars Amber Riley, Chris Colfer and Jenna Ushkowitz.

The 26-year-old actress thanked fans profusely for voting for her and for their support over "these past and very difficult few weeks." She said "I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you, and tell everyone out there how much all your love and support has meant to me over these past and very difficult few weeks."

She went on to say she wanted to "dedicate this award to Cory". She spoke of Monteith in glowing terms commenting on "his incredible talent; his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart."

She described Glee fans as "the greatest in the world" and promised together, the cast and fans would work through their grief: "for all of your out there who loved and admired Cory as much as I did. I promise that with your love we're going to get through this together."

Elsewhere at the Teen Choice Awards, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 won awards for Choice Science Fiction and Choice Romance Movie; Sci-Fi actress with Kristen Stewart; Sci-Fi actor with Taylor Lautner; Romance actor with Robert Pattinson and scene stealer for Kellan Lutz. Other successful films included The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Pitch Perfect, for drama and comedy respectively. 

Successful television shows included The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars and Glee. Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift and One Direction were amongst the winners for music awards.
