Leah Remini's Missing Person Report For Michelle Miscavige "Unfounded"

Leah Remini's filed missing persons report for Michelle Miscavige, the wife of the Church of Scientology's leader David Miscavige, has been closed by the LAPD. Remini left the church last month and filed a missing persons report shortly after.

Michelle Miscavige has not been seen in public, according to The Hollywood Reporter, since 2007, however, LAPD has closed the case after contacting the elusive Michelle Miscavige. That said, a source (speaking to the New York Daily News) from the LAPD remained vague on how the police had clarified she wasn't missing: only saying "investigators have made some type of contact with her."

No further details of Michelle Miscavige's whereabouts have been revealed although sources speaking to the NY Daily News claimed she is living at the church's base in Los Angeles County.

It is believed, as implied in reports by TMZ, that Michelle Miscavige has been reported as missing by various people. This latest report has generated such public interest it appears they have finally tracked her down. A source from the police department said the missing persons report was "unfounded".

The church had already confirmed that reports were "unfounded" in a statement which claimed Remini's report was merely "harassment" and a "publicity stunt". They went on to scoff that the feat had been "cooked up by a small band of unemployed fanatics who live on the fringe of the internet."

The Church of Scientology has been, once again, back in the limelight following the news of Remini's departure from the organisation. Whether or not Michelle Miscavige will make a public appearance to prove she is truly not missing is another matter. It would certainly lay some of the more unsavoury rumours about the organisation to rest.

The church remains in the public eye as a number of celebrities remain members, these include: Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Elisabeth Moss, Lisa Marie Presley and Juliette Lewis.
