Wonderboy Entertainment boss Rasheed Rahan Wonder and songwriter Unique Mecca Hall have reportedly launched a lawsuit, accusing TV executives of illegally sampling Fresh's 1993 track I-Ight (Alright) in the song No Doubt About It, a new tune produced for Empire by Timbaland, who previously served as the series' musical director.

The track was performed by the show's leading man Jussie Smollett alongside rapper Pitbull in the third episode of season two, which aired in the U.S. last year (15). It also featured on the show's official soundtrack.

It's not clear exactly who has been named in the legal papers, but Daniels created Empire and executive produces the show.

Last week (ends09Dec16), it was reported Doug E.Fresh, real name Douglas E. Davis, was part of the lawsuit, but the hip-hop veteran has since dismissed the reports.

"I had no idea," he tells AllHipHop.com. "I don't know the full scope. I'm so busy, I can't keep up. I don't have no big lawsuit. I didn't do nothing like that. I don't have no problem with fox (the network the show airs on)..."

"If I did (have a problem), I would say it," he adds. "I definitely don't. I have nothing to do with it at all."
