Lenny Kravitz has joined the cast of 'The Hunger Games'.

The singer - who most recently appeared in dark drama 'Precious' alongside Gabourey Sidibe - has been signed up by director Gary Ross to play the part of Cinna, a fashion stylist who has the job of styling lead character Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence).

Gary said: "When I saw Lenny's work in 'Precious', I was just knocked out. It was quiet and strong and understated and open-hearted; all qualities which define this character."

Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson are also set to star in the project, which begins shooting soon.

'The Hunger Games' is based on the Suzanne Collins novel series of the same name, and tells the tale of a future world where the population are selected to take part in a reality TV show battle to the death.

Other stars to have recently signed up for parts include Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy and Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman.
