Lil Wayne was reportedly ejected from a charity basketball game in St. Louis on Sunday evening after invading the court to begin an altercation with the referee – ironically, the event was raising money to promote non-violence in the urban areas of the city.

The 32 year old star was coaching a team of Young Money superstars from his record label against an opposition directed by the event’s organiser Loose Cannon Slim, a fellow rapper and St. Louis native. According to TMZ, Weezy became more frustrated as the game wore on, and believed that the officials were giving too many decisions towards Slim’s team.

After a while, a fight spilled out onto the court as Lil Wayne charged towards the referee to dispute what he perceived as bias towards the opposition, and had to be restrained by his teammates from doing anything more drastic. In an amateur video of the incident, he can be seen confronting the referee before exiting the arena.

Though it wasn’t captured by the video and isn’t verifiable, some witnesses also claim that Weezy spat on the ref, who sought refuge in the crowd. Police were called to the fourth annual LooseCannon Celebrity Basketball Game at the Chaifetz Arena, but no arrests were made.

The event was held in aid of ‘Put Down The Pistol’, a campaign focussed on creating positive and non-violent change in St. Louis’ inner city areas. Not exactly the best idea that Lil Wayne’s ever had, and it’s doubtful whether he’ll be asked to get involved with the event next year.

Lil Wayne has been in trouble at these sorts of events before. Two years ago, he was seen on video cursing at a cameraman at DirecTV's annual Beach Bowl football game, and was reported to have asked boxer Marcos Maidana for a fight straight after his bout with Floyd Mayweather a year later.
