Oprah Winfrey has decided to mentor Lindsay Lohan through her transitional post-rehab period. The talk show host has already convinced the 27-year-old actress to cancel her trip to Europe. On Tuesday's (6 August) Good Morning America, Winfrey shared the reasoning behind her advice, she said "I just came from Europe, and Europe is the place to go when you want to feel really good and relax."

The television queen then went on to name drop the exclusive Italian island of Capri, saying "it's hard to go to Capri and not have a Bellini."

Winfrey went on to say Lohan was still remaining - and believed would remain- strong following her release from the Malibu Cliffside Rehab Centre, she said on the talk show "I thought that she's in the best place that I've ever seen her, I believe that she believes that she is now ready."

However, Winfrey implied the actress isn't entirely certain. In the Good Morning America interview, Winfrey said Lohan "admitted that there were other times when she was pretending to be ready and not quite sure. And sometimes resentful that she was being, you know, put in a position where she had to go to rehab. I think this is the first time I could see it really benefited her."

A source, speaking to US Weekly, seems to reiterate Winfrey's statement saying Lohan "really wants to get back to living a normal life and not being around negative people."

The same source claims Lohan is taking her 59-year-old mentor's advice and "she is doing everything Oprah tells her to do."

Winfrey's television network, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), has signed a deal with Lohan for an exclusive reality documentary. The documentary will follow Lohan as she copes with life after rehab and it is due to be aired next year in eight parts. Lohan was only released from her court ordered 90-day rehab just over a week ago (Tuesday 30 July), but she has not paused for a moment as she has already appeared on Chelsea Lately; agreed the OWN reality show deal and filmed an interview with Winfrey.

Winfrey is not the only celebrity to offer support to Lohan, yesterday (7 August), Chaka Khan made a statement in support of Lohan's efforts to recover from her substance addiction.

The interview appears on Oprah Winfrey: The Next Chapter and is due to be aired on August 18 on OWN.
