As Britain wakes up to the shock of the EU referendum result, one person who we never expected to take an interest in British politics is Lindsay Lohan. The actress took to social media last night as the results were coming in, to voice her passionate support for the remain campaign and blast Brexit supporters. Most of it was pretty nonsensical, but it was at least entertaining.

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan has given her views on the EU referendum.

Lohan started by sharing a video on Instagram featuring her Chanel handbag and telling followers: “#besmart pay attention and work hard to buy @chanelofficial #remain where's Sunderland? Does Sarah Palin live there? Lol.”

The Mean Girls star then moved to Twitter to call out Sunderland for voting to leave, after the Independent reported the pound had plummeted. “Why? prove the UK will not trigger anger by allowing (sunderland) to lower the UK pound - THIS IMPACT WILL CONTROL ALL MARGINS,” she wrote.

However Lohan’s confusion about the whereabouts of Sunderland was soon cleared up by the BBC, who also informed her where Swindon was. “@BBCNews thank you for explaining where #Sunderland AND #Swindon ARE... #Remain #EUref,” she tweeted.

But after Kettering voted to leave, Lohan found another English town she couldn't locate on a map. “Sorry, but #KETTERING where are you&why is this woman @BBCNews speaking on people rather than TELLING us what happens if UK LEAVES?,” she asked.

One place that did do Lohan proud was the Shetland Islands in Scotland. “I love the #shetlands @BBCNews thank goodness we have pure hearted people our side #besmart #ShetlandsVSSunderland #BringItOn,” she tweeted.

Some thought that the actress’ twitter had probably been hacked, but Lohan assured fans that it was indeed her tweeting. After Bury in Manchester voted to leave Lohan asked, “what's wrong with you Manchester,” before declaring that she used to live there.

As the results became clear Lohan warned of the impact on the pound, telling leave voters: ‘good luck with the pound.. will take you about 15 years to get it back up #REMAIN instead.’ After hours of tweeting the actress declared she was tired and off to bed, leaving with the message #remain.

But after all her passion last night it seems Lindsay is feeling differently this morning. She started her day by posting a selfie with fiancé Egor Tarabasov captioned, “It's a sunny day! Yay!," before deleteing all her tweets from last night referencing the referendum.
