Torrential rain showers and thunderstorms as well as some flash flooding has caused the Austin City Limits Music Festival to cancel the final day (Oct 14th). All 75,000 tickets were purchased by fans to attend the last day of the festival.

They will all receive a refund for one third of the cost of their tickets, according to the festivals website.

Shelby Meade, who is the festivals spokesperson, said in the bulletin, "Our first priority is always the safety of our fans, staff and artists", adding, "We regret having to cancel the show today, but safety always comes first."

Austin's American Statesmen reported that the district received between 5 and 11 inches of rain overnight.

More than 2 dozen acts were scheduled to perform this Sunday from the likes of Lionel Richie, Atoms For Peace fronted by Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke and many others.

Franz Ferdinand frontman, Alex Kapranos, vented his frustration with the cancelation on twitter, "So disappointed that ACL is cancelled. I've been looking forward to this all week". Thom Yorke also took to twitter and posted how severe the storm was, "Austin Texas tonight. A storm to end all storms! Lightning and thunder & rain like I have never seen."

The National Weather Service has predicted in the next coming days of heavy rain showers and warned that there is a high risk of flash floods in the city of Austin until the end of the week.

This was the second weekend of the two-weekend festival.
