Lisa Ling has opened up about working for Oprah Winfrey's network Own as well as her murky dealings with the porn industry.
The 38 year-old American journalist is currently host of a program on the re-launched network called 'Our America' where she explores social issues that are prevalent in modern day America. This series looks at polygamy, sex trafficking, extreme parenting styles and amateur porn, reports CNN. Talking to the Cnn site, Ling said "Porn is a multi-billion dollar industry and the world of porn is undeniable. So for me, while there are tremendous uncomfortable moments, I was also riveted and absolutely fascinated by this world."
On the episode that explores parenting styles, Ling was equally enthusiastic, stating "It's a very fascinating look into different approaches to parenting. We spent time with four families who have completely different styles, they are literally shaping these little people into adults."
Ling's breakthrough came when joining Channel One News in 1991 aged just 18 and she hit a high profile when reporting on the 9/11 plane attacks. On Own she now feels she's found a home, insisting "I actually feel more strongly about it now than ever. I don't think I would be able to do any other show on any other network." A lot of that is down to the input of veteran Oprah Winfrey, "Oprah watches everything and will sometimes give notes. She is very active in the process."
