Teenage pop star Lorde and crossover trio Sol3 Mio look set to dominate the 2014 New Zealand Music Awards after landing five nominations apiece.
The Royals hitmaker, who ruled last year's (13) ceremony by taking home four prizes, will compete for Best Female Solo Artist, Single of the Year for Team and Best Pop Album for Pure Heroine.
She will face off with Sol3 Mio for the People's Choice honour and the Album of the Year title, alongside Ladi 6, Tiny Ruins and The Naked & Famous.
The operatic trio is also up for Best Group and Breakthrough Artist of the Year, but the band members are already guaranteed one trophy after they were recently announced as the winners of the Best Pacific Music Album Award.
Other top nominees for the New Zealand Music Awards include Broods, Stan Walker and rapper David Dallas, while reunited funk rockers Supergroove will be feted with the Legacy Award and inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame when the prizegiving takes place in Auckland on 20 November (14).
