Taylor Swift was briefly back on Spotify over the weekend with just one song, 2012’s ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ from the album Red. But in an odd twist the song was credited to paedophile former rock star Ian Watkins and his band, Lostprophets.

Taylor Swift briefly reappeared on Spotify over the weekend.

According to The Guardian, as of Monday morning, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ had been live on Spotify for three days, with and was showing a public play count of 39,681,189 streams. This means that the system has correctly linked the song to the previous copy that had been attributed to Swift.

Ian Watkins Trial: It's a shame we have to start with this one but little else has seen the headlines all week. The disgraced former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins, 36, describing himself as a "determined and committed paedophile" in the ongoing court case, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted rape and 12 other offences including sexual assault and taking, making and distributing indecent images of children.

What's more, innocent parties including Alexa Chung, Fearne Cotton and Ian "H" Watkins from Steps have been dragged into the reporting. Peaches Geldof has received stern criticism after she shared the names of the women who let Watkins abuse their children.

As the Ian Watkins child abuse case came to a swift end this week, the fallout was always going to carry on for a number of weeks. Of all people, Peaches Geldof decided to wade into the debate, naming and shaming the two mothers who were convicted alongside Watkins in the sexual abuse case.

The Geldof altercation comes after Watkins pleaded guilty to several counts of child abuse on Tuesday, being convicted alongside the two women who are said to have allowed Watkins to carry out his depraved lusts on their children. Obviously, this is an incredibly delicate subject, and as the names of victims of child abuse are always held in anonymity, Peaches' ill-advised rant against the mothers inadvertently made the children's identity all that clearer.

Ian Watkins, singer with Welsh rock band Lostprophets, has pleaded guilty to a series of child sex offences including attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13. The 36-year-old from Pontypridd had previously "furiously denied" the allegations though pleaded guilty in court this week.

The Welsh rock band, Lostprophets, have announced that they are splitting up as singer Ian Watkins faces his child sex trial.

Posting on their Facebook page, the band issued a statement saying they could not continue making music under the name Lostprophets.

Watkins faces 24 counts of sexual offences when he goes to trial sometime in November.

It’s a sad way to end things for a band that were so popular, but the Lost Prophets have decided to split ahead of Ian Watkin’s trial for child sex offences. He is due to stand trial at the end of the year, and is accused of raping a baby in addition to 22 other sex offences.

"After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time,” said the band in a statement released via their Facebook page.

Ian Watkins, the singer of Welsh nu-metal band Lostprophets, appeared in court via video link in Cardiff today (December 31, 2012), along with two other women, accused of plotting to rape a child. He has also been charged with several other offences, including three charges of possession, making and distributing indecent images of children.

The 35 year-old was wearing a black suit, with a black shirt and tie and according to the Daily Mail, spoke only to confirm his name, during the brief 10 minute preliminary hearing; a formality in the legal process. His mother Elaine was looking on from the public gallery. Watkins was remanded in custody at Parc Prison in Bridgend, South Wales for a further 10 weeks, as were the two women arrested for conspiring to sexually abuse a child, with him. One woman, aged 20, was from Doncaster and another, aged 24, was from Bedford. An application for bail was adjourned for another hearing to take his plea on March 11, 2013.

The rest of Watkins’ Lostprophets band members have expressed their shock at learning of Watkins’ arrest on December 19. A statement on their website read “We find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers.”

Music fans were shocked to hear the news that The Lostprophets front man, Ian Watkins, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse. Now, The Guardian reports, the Welsh singer has been officially charged. 

In a statement, Welsh police said: "In order to assist their investigation South Wales police has named the man as Ian Watkins, a member of the rock group Lostprophets." The statement said Watkins and two women had been arrested as part of a continuing investigation codenamed Operation Globe, and had been questioned at Cardiff bay police station. Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Peter Doyle, said: "Specially trained staff are available to speak to anyone with concerns or information regarding this investigation and a dedicated telephone number has been set up. I want to encourage anyone who has any concerns or information which they think may be relevant to contact us. Safeguarding children involved in such cases is always a high priority and as such measures have already been taken."

John Cameron, head of child protection operations for the NSPCC, added of the investigation: "We can confirm we are working alongside South Wales police and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre on this investigation. It's vital we send a clear message to those who have experienced abuse that they can never be to blame for what has happened to them, that they have somewhere to turn and that they will be taken seriously."

Watkins was named in a South Wales Police statement yesterday. "A Pontypridd man has been charged with sexual offences against children and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court today," a spokesperson said following the arrested. "The 35-year-old has been charged with conspracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children. In order to assist in their investigation, South Wales Police has named the man as Ian Watkins, a member of the rock group Lostprophets."

Following the arrest of Ian Watkins from rock band Lostprophets over child abuse charges, his bandmates have reacted in shock and posted a statement on their website.

Lostprophets.com is now blank page save for the band's message: 'Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock', it read. 'We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers.' They signed it 'Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu' and have not made any further comment since. 

35-year-old Watkins was arrested for charges of conspiring to engage in illicit sexual activity with two minors under the age of 13 - one of which was reportedly a one-year-old girl - and possessing, making and distributing indecent images including animal porn, according to The Mirror. Two women, aged 20 and 24, have also been arrested for similar charges although they have not been named for legal reasons - Watkins' name was released by police in the hope that it could help with their enquiries. He is currently remanded in custody and is set to face court on New Year's Eve.

Ian Watkins, 35, appeared in court yesterday. According to a report from The Mirror, he was charged six offences, one of which as conspiring with a female fan, aged 24, to rape a one year old girl. Watkins and two women are also accused of conspiring to engage in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 13. The women have not been named for legal reasons, but police opted to name Watkins in the hope that it could help with their enquiries. The rock singer has also been accused of possessing “extreme pornography,” some of which involves animals.

The accused singer was refused bail, following yesterday’s hearing at Cardiff Crown Court. He is due in court again on December 31, 2012. The band have cancelled a tour that they had planned.

The police also revealed that they had taken the decision to name Watkins, “to assist” their inquiries. Two women, aged 20 and 24 were also arrested. Those women were from Doncaster, South Yorkshire and Bedford, respectively. They had ben charged with “similar offences.” All three accused were questioned at Cardiff Bay police station.

Screamo:Lostprophets Ian Watkins at Manchester's O2 Apollo

Lostprophets took their Weapons tour to the Manchester O2 Apollo on Thursday evening (November 8, 2012), playing to a huge audience that was clearly pleased to see the Welsh rockers back on the live circuit. The boys still have Portsmouth, London, Norwich, Lincoln and a homecoming show of sorts in Newport to come, but it will be Manchester that goes down as one of the more rip-roaring gigs of the tour.
