The pop singer is set to become a first-time father in the coming months as he is expecting a child with Los Angeles-based stylist Briana Jungwirth following a brief fling.

He has given little away about the imminent arrival of the tot, but in an interview with Scottish TV outlet STV Glasgow, Louis admits he will be using his time away from the band to get to know the child.

When the reporter mentions the baby news, Louis replies, "I am (going to be a dad), yeah. I'm very excited, yeah."

The host then presses him by asking whether he will be spending time with the baby during the band's hiatus, and he adds, "Yeah, it's gonna be really nice."

Louis fuelled rumours he is still dating the mother of his child by flying Briana to see one of the band's shows in London last month (Sep15).

The stylist was spotted sporting a blossoming baby bump while hanging out with the singer's mum and his sister Lottie, who is a make-up artist for the band, during the gig at the O2 Arena in London.

One Direction are set to release their fifth album, Made in the A.M., next month (Nov15) before embarking on a long break from March (16), and the rest of the bandmembers are expected to pursue solo careers during the hiatus.

"Your support is truly indescribable! It's just a break we're not going anywhere!!... Promise," Louis previously tweeted of the hiatus.

Niall Horan has also previously denied the hiatus will lead to a permanent split, tweeting: "We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break," while Liam Payne added, "It's been the most amazing five years and there's so much more to come."
