However, the singer's decision has split public opinion
The saga of Louise Redknapp’s marriage has plagued the former singer and Strictly Come Dancing star for months; however, it seems it is finally heading for divorce.
Louise Redknapp has filed for divorce
Mum-of-two Louise - who has been married to footballer, Jamie Redknapp for 19 years - has officially filed for divorce.
The singer, 43, and her husband, 44, are reported to have been unable to save their marriage after spending so much of the past year apart.
The Sun reported a source had confirmed the final spilt and said: "They have come to a mutual agreement that divorce is the only option.
"Louise has filed the paperwork and there’s no going back."
Since the revelation that the pair are heading for the divorce courts, a number of keyboard warriors have taken to social media to express their views on the couple’s marital woes - despite the fact neither party has commented on the widely-reported split.
Some fans of the star - who has returned to the stage in the musical Cabaret since her appearance on BBC reality show, Strictly Come Dancing - have praised her decision to end her marriage.
One Twitter user wrote: "She has been through a lot then gradually got her confidence back. 19 years is a long time but things change. Better to be happy apart than unhappy together. Better for the kids better for each other. Good luck @LouiseRedknapp xx."
Another wrote: "@LouiseRedknapp She appeared lacking in so much confidence appearing on #Strictly glad she's found herself again.....Go for it Gal."
However, others criticised her choice to leave League of Their Own panellist, Jamie - with who she shares two sons, Charley and Beau.
One particularly opinionated social media user wrote: "I used to really like @LouiseRedknapp but she’s being incredibly selfish and needs to grow up. You can still have your identity AND be married."
