Fail! Lionel Richie's Name Spelled Wrong At The BET Awards

Lionel Richie Lupita Nyong'o Beyonce Knowles John Legend Jay Z Pharrell Williams

Whoever was in charge of the captioning at last night's BET Awards should hang their head in shame after they misspelled the name of the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award, Lionel Richie. During the televised coverage of the Black Entertainment Television Awards on Sunday night (29th June), which was watched by millions around the world, the broadcasting team managed to spell Richie's surname as "Ritchie."

Sure, plenty of worse things could have happened, but it's still a pretty embarrassing move considering Richie was practically the guest of honor at the bash. To make matters worse, the mistake flashed on the screen in large lettering as the 65 year-old soul star headed to collect his prize.

Soon the hashtag "#lionelritchie" began trending on Twitter as viewers picked up on the blunder and quickly spread the news leading to embarrassment for the show's production team.

Lupita Nyong'o Scores Her First Vogue Cover: Talks Fame, Star Wars, And Her "Glam Squad"

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong'o has landed her first Vogue magazine cover entitled "Her incredible break out year." Arguably the culmination of months of appearing at the top of best-dressed lists, Lupita's Vogue spread is a well-timed tribute that fossilises the Hollywood newcomer's impact on showbiz and fashion in the best year.

As well as confirming her relationship with the rapper K'Naan, Lupita also discussed the fallout of the rapid rise to fame and mused upon her lost anonymity. Asked if she had had a completely surreal year, she laughed "Indeed I did. It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life. People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognizing me-before I recognized them!"

A great deal of attention has been given to the 31 year-old star's daring red carpet outfits, which always reflect her ambitious, optimistic and colourful personality. She discussed "epic six-hour fittings" with her stylist Micaela Erlanger, saying "We'd just try, try, try, try, try, try, try. At first it was very daunting, but I ended up really having fun with it."

Millennium Falcon Photos From 'Star Wars 7' Set Leak: Could It Be?

Jj Abrams Carrie Fisher Lupita Nyong'o Harrison Ford Mark Hamill Gwendoline Christie Peter Mayhew Domhnall Gleeson Adam Driver

We have been given our first look at the brand new Millennium Falcon that is being built for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, thanks to an alleged photo leak TMZ has published. The new shots, which are purported to feature full-size space vehicles from the sci-fi franchise, have strongly hinted that Han Solo's iconic spaceship and others will be included in Jj Abrams upcoming reboot.

If the photos are real, they are evidence that Abrams' team has decided to create full-size versions of the vehicles that George Lucas' movies only made in miniature model sizes. It will also indicate that Episode VII will use minimal CGI effects in favour of high spec props and spacecraft models. Eagle-eyed observers also spotted what looks like an X-Wing starfighter amongst the other unknown constructions.

The photos were evidently taken in some kind of cavernous hangar which fans are speculating could be England's Pinewood Studios, where much of the movie's filming will take place. Vast sets are shown being built out of wood and covered with ladders and scaffolding as Abrams' vision slowly takes form.

Emma Watson Joins The List Of Celebrity Graduates

Emma Watson John Legend James Franco Lupita Nyong'o

It’s no Hogwarts, but it just might be the next best thing. Actress Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the hit franchise Harry Potter, recently graduated from the Ivy League school Brown University for a degree in English literature. Enrolling in the school in 2009, the degree had been a work in progress as Watson took breaks in between to finish off the remaining Harry Potter films, and she even worked on her schooling abroad as she studied at Oxford University in England, as well. You’d think adapting to the college life could be difficult for someone with such a star status, but Watson said it was pretty easy adjusting. "I've never even been asked for an autograph on campus," she said in an interview in 2013. "I threw a party for nearly 100 students and not a single person put a photo on Facebook."

Watson joins the list of quite a few celebrities that have graduated from top tier schools, and it’s an admirable accomplishment whether it was done before they became famous, or after. In fact, there’s probably a ton of your favorite celebrities that you never even knew had a degree in some weird categories completely unrelated to their career choice. Either way, for these actors and musicians, they’ve proven that at one point or another, an A mark was once a more important accolade than an Oscar or a Grammy.

As one of the biggest, most critically acclaimed and most decorated films of 2013, 12 Years a Slave was always going to be a big DVD release, but someone working for the supermarket chain Sainsbury’s perhaps got a little bit too enthused, dressing up a mannequin in clothes similar to those worn by Chiwitel Ejiofor and his co-stars in the hard-hitting slave drama.

It didn’t take long for a shopper to see the hugely distasteful promotional stand, take a snapshot on their phone and upload it to Twitter for the world to see. The mannequin – which appeared at a branch in Oxford – was clad with a ripped, loose fitting beige shirt and three quarter-length trousers. The worst part – a twig protruding from the shirt.

Lupita Nyong'o In Prada At The Met Ball: A Red Carpet Risk Worth Taking?

At the Met Gala on Sunday night, Oscar winner and the fashion world’s latest muse, Lupita Nyong’o divided opinion with her choice of Prada dress. Do you love it? Or do you hate it? The intent is divided as is the fashion world. Has Lupita made her first big fashion fail, or was this one a red carpet risk worth taking?

There was only one real star to come out of this year’s awards season, Lupita Nyong’o. It wasn’t just because of her award winning performance in 12 Years A Slave that all eyes were on Lupita. It was also because, at every awards show on every red carpet she stepped on to, Lupita hit a fashion home run with her choice of gown. Red Chanel at the Golden Globes, emerald green Dior at the BAFTA’s and her breathtaking sky blue Oscar’s Prada, Lupita nailed it every time on the red carpet.

Zac Efron And Lupita Nyong'o Still To Join 'Star Wars Episode VII' Cast?

Zac Efron Lupita Nyong'o Jj Abrams

Zac Efron and Lupita Nyong’o had both been heavily tipped to be joining the cast of Star Wars Episode VII. So, imagine our surprise when the cast was announced earlier this week but their names weren’t on the list!  Although Jj Abrams has announced a string of actors billed to appear in his upcoming movie, there are rumours that the casting announcement isn’t yet complete. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Abrams “has another substantial role to fill - and it’s a female part.” How much truth there is to this report is obviously debatable, but we do know that there’s been strong evidence suggesting both Nyong’o and Efron will be joining the cast.

Star Wars cast Is the Episode VII cast complete, or will there be a second announcement?

Nyong’o was reported to have met with director Abrams in March when they discussed the Oscar-winning actress playing one of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s offspring. Lupita is probably the hottest actress around at the moment, fresh off her Academy Award win for her performance in 12 Years a Slave. Although Lupita met with Abrams in March, she hasn’t been the only female actress rumoured to have landed a role in Episode VII. Newcomer Maisie Richardson-Sellers’ name has also cropped up a few times. It’s not too unlikely for a fairly unknown actress to be cast, since relatively unheard of Daisy Ridley was announced as a main cast member on Tuesday.

Lupita Nyong'o Gives Raw Speech On Representation At Essence Awards

This year’s Oscars famously mark the third time that a POC has been nominated for the Best Director Award in the show’s history. As Steve McQueen competes for the top honor, the stars of his 12 Years a Slave – Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong’o are also the favorites in their own categories – Lead Actor and Supporting Actress. And because even this qualifies as an unusually diverse lineup of nominees, the topic of skin color has tended to come up a lot in the past few months.

Very Good

With a premise not much more believable than Snakes on a Plane, this slickly made thriller entertains us from start to finish by never flinching once. It may be utterly ridiculous, but it's played with full-on dedication by a gifted cast and a filmmaker who knows how to ramp up tension out of thin air, so to speak. Yes, it's utterly idiotic, but it's so much fun that we want a sequel even before this film crashes to the ground.

Relapsed alcoholic Air Marshal Bill (Neeson) has far too much personal baggage as he heads to work on a trans-Atlantic flight. Still grieving over his daughter's death as he drinks a bit of coffee with his whiskey, his hopes of a quiet flight are soon dashed when he receives an in-flight text threatening to kill a passenger every 20 minutes if he doesn't pay a huge ransom. So he kicks into action-man gear. But things start getting seriously surreal as he struggles to find anyone on the plane who doesn't look shifty. He seeks assistance from steely stewardess Nancy (Dockery) and too-helpful passenger Jen (Moore). But everyone begins to wonder if Bill might be the real villain here.

Filmmaker Collet-Serra packs the screen with red herrings, as all of the passengers fire wary glances at each other, moan about the general chaos of the flight and do all of those stupid things that make air travel so tiresome. The only thing missing is a screaming baby. Not that you'd hear it above the crazed panic this cat-and-mouse situation induces. It's so frantic that we barely have time to wonder how someone could get on a plane with a briefcase full of cocaine. Or a bomb. So we just hang on as the turbulence escalates.
