Forget sweatshops in India and slave labour camps in North Korea, Mariah Carey has seen for herself what working in supposedly hellish conditions is like. The R&B singer was interviewed by HOT 97 radio on Wednesday and, as she sipped her Champagne, she relived the atrocities of her single season on Fox's talent searching show.

"Honestly, I hated it," Carey said of her turn at judging the long-running singing contest. Speaking to Angie Martinez, she explained: "I thought it was going to be a three-person panel. They gave me a nice dangling monetary moment, and I was just like, 'Okay. Randy Jackson will be there; I've known him forever. He used to play bass for me. Like, this isn't a big deal. This will be nothing.'"

She then alluded to her rivalry and feud with hip hop star and fellow judge Nicki Minaj, adding "But it wasn't that. It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan." Though Mariah didn't refer to any of her co-judges by name, it could be inferred that she was hinting at her difficult relationship with Minaj.

Thankfully, there was light at the end of the tunnel for Mariah: "You know what I loved? I loved the contestants," she remembered. "And some of them that were so good-and also really good people, you could tell-it was disappointing when [the judges] would, for political reasons, not put people through."

Nicki Minaj
Safe To Say That Minaj & Mariah Clashed Pretty Badly.

So it turns out judging on American Idol wasn't all so bad after all. Would she do it again? "I like being in the studio better and going on my own tours, etc., so we're going back to that," said the diva.

During the show's airing this year, Minaj is known to have sent out tweets bashing Mariah for being "insecure" and "bitter" and even cattily wrote "She's sad I tie her record for Hot 100 entries in only 3 years of being in the game."

Unsurprisingly, neither Carey nor Minaj will return to the show for Season 15 in January 2014. Instead, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr., will join Keith Urban with Randy Jackson taking on a mentor role.
