Fact: Pop superstar Cher gave her best wishes to departing U.S. talk show veteran DAVID LETTERMAN during a surprise appearance on his THE LATE SHOW on Wednesday night (06May15), saying, "This is one thing that I really mean from the bottom of my heart: I really love you and I'm gonna miss you." Fellow guest Martin Short also paid tribute to the host by performing a dark farewell tune, quipping, "I've had this number prepared for some time. To be honest, I wrote it for your funeral." At the end of the song, a sign lit up the stage, reading, "Rest in Peace, Dave!". The presenter will step down from the show after more than two decades as host later this month (May15).
