You never know what Massive Attack will do next. One moment they're creating albums of the decade (Blue Lines) and the next they've gone off the boil to such a degree they're barely simmering (100th window). My first reaction to their latest single was that it sounds like it could be lifted from Moby's Play album. But where Moby's retro remixing had a cool, modern glossiness to it, Live with Me has a certain dark and sexy groove going on. Partly it's the trade-mark lush, sensual synthetic bass sounds that do it, but mostly it's the authentic soul vocals of Terry Callier that lift this single out of ordinariness and up into the realms of unforgettable musical moments.
