As it is released in Britain following an impressive box office showing in America, Gold actor Corey Stoll has described what the film is about and his experiences shooting it, saying that it is “about capitalism”.

Gold tells the story of an unlucky, desperate prospector named Kenny Wells [Matthew Mcconaughey] in search of a payday, who teams up with geologist Michael Acosta [Edgar Ramirez] on a quest to find gold in the uncharted Borneo region of Indonesia.

The film's star Matthew Mcconaughey doesn't mind how people react. "I would say, real simply, anyone has as much right to boo as they do to ovate." In the film, McConaughey plays Arthur, a man who walks into Japan's notorious Aokigahara Forest to kill himself, for reasons that are discovered through flashbacks. Costars include Naomi Watts as his wife and Ken Watanabe as a suicidal man he meets in the woods.

McConaughey enjoyed Van Sant's loose approach to the narrative. "I like a lot of his work and we just came together on this one," he says. "It's hands down an exceptional script. It moved me. Rarely do I stand up and have to walk around and yell at a script on the page as I read it. I cried at this script. I was mad at it. I was screaming. That doesn't happen very often."

Idris Elba is being lined up as the leading actor in the hugely anticipated movie adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’.

The British star, 42, is due to play the part of gunslinger Roland Deschain, who squares off against the series’ villain, The Man In Black, played by Matthew Mcconaughey who had previously expressed interest in playing both roles, according to Deadline.

A big screen adaptation of King’s epic series of novels has been rumoured for a long time, but the new project’s backers Sony are reportedly going to be more ambitious than settling for just a movie, floating the idea of a TV series set in the same fictional universe.

Though they respectively constitute the cream of the movie and TV worlds, Matthew Mcconaughey and Jimmy Kimmel took some time out to boost the grassroots of the entertainment industry by teaming up to promote a local video store at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

Well, actually, you do scam Tom Hanks. What you don’t do is get away with it. Jerry Goldman, an insurance broker who overcharged Tom Hanks his wife Rita Wilson, had ended up with a 27 month stretch in jail.

The broker, according to The Hollywood Reporter, received a 27-month sentence Monday and was also was ordered to pay about $840,000 in restitution. Between 1998 and 2011, reports suggest, Goldman inflated premiums by as much as 600 percent and created fake invoices to hide the scam.

Idris Elba has been admitted to a unspecified UK hospital after suffering an asthma attack whilst on his way to the premiere of new film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The Brit-actor suffered the attack whilst on board the plane, but was able to be removed from the aircraft whilst it was still in the UK and taken to a near-by hospital to recover.

To call the movie the grandpa's version of The Hangover would not be giving the film credit for its compelling premise which makes for a hugely watchable film with a driving force of solid acting talent.

Matthew Mcconaughey has a very real chance of scoring his first ever Oscar nomination for The Dallas Buyers Club. Before this week, we'd only been treated to stills from the drama - showing the Hollywood actor playing a dangerously thin AIDS patient - though now we have the trailer, and the 38-year-old's performance comes across very, very well.

Early reaction suggest The Dallas Buyers Club could be McConaughey's strongest role yet and the first footage appears to corroborate with that line of thought. The thing is: if McConaughey is going to score a lead actor nomination, then Jared Leto may get the nod for supporting actor by default. He plays fellow AIDS patient Rayon, who weighed just 116 pounds during filming, evoking memories of Christian Bale's chilling appearance in The Machinist.

Based on a true story, The Dallas Buyers Club sees McConaughey play Texas electrician Ron Woodroof, a man who found himself in a life or death battle with the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies.

We don’t tend to think of Magic Mike as high entertainment (actually, we rarely think of it at all,) but all that might be about to change with Channing Tatum’s announcement that the film will be adapted into a Broadway musical. In any case, hot male strippers singing and dancing live for a couple of hours? We would have absolutely no problem with the idea. Deadline was first to announce the news, also introducing the writing team - Next to Normal's Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey will write the songs and Glee writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will pen the script.

The new dad might stay behind the scnes for this one.

This project has been in the works for over a year now, with Channing Tatum hinting at a musical adaptation. And of course, the questions of whether he would actually appear onstage – because what’s Magic Mike without Channing Tatum – have been rampant. Tatum does have a producer’s credit on the show, but it doesn’t look likely that he himself will appear onstage.

Ok, so by now everyone's well aware that Jerry Buckheimer and Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger is a monumental flop - a serious disaster that could cost Disney $150 million. The Johnny Depp-Armie Hammer starring western took just $48.9 million over the usually lucrative five-day Independence Day weekend - leaving it miles from its $175 million marketing budget, not to mention its $250 million production costs.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney is praying for a return of $150 million abroad, taking its worldwide total to $275 million and $150 million short of its $425 million total budget. "It's very disappointing," said Disney executive vice-president of worldwide distribution Dave Hollis. "Everything was perfect on paper, so today was incredibly frustrating." The problem is, nothing could be described as perfect. If Hollis is referring to Johnny Depp than it's lazy marketing. If he's referring to Verbinski in the directorial seat, or the bloated budget, than it's just stupid talk. The Lone Ranger has received some of the worst reviews of the year - it's a terrible movie - and unfortunately, nobody wants to watch big-budget westerns. Did Cowboys and Aliens teach them nothing?

Wow, this one looks pretty damn good doesn't it? The Wolf of Wall Street trailer, starring Leonardo Dicaprio as stockbroker Jordan Belfort, exploded onto the internet on Sunday (June 16, 2013) with tons of verve and energy. Directed by Martin Scorsese and based on Belfort's memoirs, the movie boasts a pretty stellar cast headed by DiCaprio and held firmly together by a particularly strong and funny looking performance from the excellent Matthew Mcconaughey.

What was the highlight of actress Amber Tamblyn and actor David Cross’ wedding? Well, sadly, even Tamblyn’s stunning gown couldn’t upstage the antics of their unofficial photographer, Questlove. The happy snapper not only DJ’d at the wedding, but also decided to take a number of pics of the happy couple and stick them on his Instagram account. The Roots drummer revealed pretty much everything from the bride’s arrival, to the cutting of the cake, using the hashtag #weddinginthewoods. So, Amber and David – you just about made the grade, but you have your crazy DJ to thank for it.
