Actors choose to work on movies in many different ways and for many different reasons, but for Matthew Mcconaughey, he chose the Bre-X mining scandal drama 'Gold' because it's hands down his favourite sort of film to go and watch at a movie theatre.

'I read this over three years ago and it was one of the few scripts, luckily, that I read that automatically I said, 'I have to do this, I have to be this guy, Kenny Wells'', he said. 'I love the movie, it's the kind of movie that I wanna go see. It's the type of thriller, it's the type of drama, it's got the right type of character that I wanna go see. If I've got a choice of 20 pictures, this is the one that I'm gonna go see. My favourite kind of movies to watch.'

The film follows a mining magnate named Kenny Wells (based on Bre-X CEO David Walsh) who sets out to uncover a huge mass of gold deep in a Borneo jungle with a geologist named Michael Acosta (Édgar Ramírez). Unfortunately, everything goes sideways when it becomes clear to everyone that the whole thing's a fake.
