Meek Mill Vs. The Game: Some Serious Beef Is Going Down

Meek Mill The Game

Meek Mill and The Game have some serious beef going on right now, apparently to do with the robbery of Sean Kingston. Last week The Game released a diss track called '92 Bars' and also unveiled a shot of himself with Mill's girlfriend Nicki Minaj. Mill has since responded in kind.

In response to The Game posting a shirtless picture of himself and Nicki Minaj on Instagram, Meek Mill re-posted a video of The Game crying about not wanting to be a part of hip hop following the shooting of groom-to-be Sean Bell by police officers in 2006. He's now deleted the post. From what we've gathered, The Game is angry about the Philly rapper - who was recently sentenced to six years of probation after a parole violation - 'snitching' on him to police detectives following a situation where Sean Kingston was attacked and robbed in a nightclub.

Police Hunting For Suspect In Lil Snupe Shooting Case

Meek Mill

Earlier this week, 18-year-old rapper Lil Snupe was shot down in the small Lousiana town of Winnfield on Thursday (June 20) in the early hours of the morning. At the time, police were left stumped as to why the crime happened and who could be behind it, but now it looks as though the cops have a lead and are said to be searching for a man in his mid-thirties in connection with the crime.

Lousiana police have issued a report saying they are searching for a 36-year-old man who they believe shot and killed the protégé of rapper Meek Mill following an argument over video games earlier in the week. The man, named Tony Holden, has a warrant out on his name, but police have so far been unable to locate him yet. The police report went on to say that Holden is a violent man and a former convict and should not be approached by members of the public.

Lil Snupe, real name Addarren Ross, had only just signed to Meek Mill’s Dream Chasers Records earlier this year having passed on a demo tape to the rapper at a university gig. Immediately impressed with what he heard, Meek took him under his wing and signed him to his label, with Snupe releasing his first mixtape soon after. Noted for his lethal freestyles, Snupe was beginning to make a name for himself in the rap game and looked to have a bring future ahead of him, making the shooting all the more distressing.

Lil Snupe Shot Dead: Meek Mill Mourns As Police Release New Details

Meek Mill

Only weeks after rapper 2 Chainz was robbed at gunpoint in California, the rap world has been hit with another guncrime - but this time the 18 year-old victim didn't escape with his life. Rising rapstar Lil Snupe was killed by shots to his torso at around 4am on Thursday (June 20) morning and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Details are beginning to slowly emerge of the teenager's untimely death. Neither motives nor the relevancy of the location are known: "A motive has not been established at this time," LAPD told MTV, adding that an investigation has been opened and was under way.

The talented Lil Snupe, born Addarren Ross, was signed up to Meek Mill's Dream Chasers label almost straight away after he passed on a demo tape to the 26 year-old hiphopster at a university gig in Louisiana in late 2012. Meek Mill, AKA Robert Williams, was immediately impressed by the youngster's talent and signed him up, also taking him under his wing as his protégé.

18-Year-Old Meek Mill Protege Lil Snoop Dies From Gunshot Wound

Meek Mill

The entertainment industry has apparently become a high risk business lately, as 18-year-old rapper Lil’ Snoop, who just got signed to Meek Mill’s label Dream Chasers last year, has been killed. Lil Snoop was shot and killed this morning (June 20), according to multiple sources, including AllHipHop and XXL. No details have been released about the location or exact time of the incident. Lil’ Snoop was at the very beginning of his career, having just released his first mixtape with Dream Chasers. You can hear some of the tracks below.

It was reportedly his mixtape that initially impressed Meek Mill into taking on Lil’ Snoop as his protégé. The budding rapper told his unlikely success story to MTV last February: "He was in a van, they was finna pull off. And I went and knocked on the van, on the window. They let the window down, grabbed the mixtape and it was like 10 minutes later, 20 minutes later they called me," he said.

Meek Mills Defends Rick Ross Alleged Rape Endorsement

Meek Mill Rick Ross

Meek Mill has used the lyrics of the late rapper Notorious B.I.G to defend Rick Ross’ own decidedly disgusting words that would appear to endorse rape.

The hip-hop world is at times a bewildering place, somewhere where boundaries are routinely crossed in thematic content with the loose justification being that these MCs are telling real stories and portraying real situations. Situations that they seem to be pretty into. Meek Mill was being asked about Rick Ross, hip-hop and the social responsibility it bore given it’s huge profile by Urban Informer, and he said "I don't even care about nobody criticizing no lyrics.” He continued "People rap about killing stuff all day. Biggie said, 'Rape your kid. Throw her over the bridge.' It was nothing, it's just hip-hop."

He did indeed say that, with Spin pointing out that Mills was saying it was all part of B.I.G’s narrative, which it may have been. However it then goes on to point out Ross’ lyrics, which say “Put molly in her champagne, she ain't even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain't even know it” and are said pretty straight, with very little in the way of narration around it. What does all this tell us? We don’t even know, but rap’s got some serious issues and the most depressing thing is that it’s become such the norm in the genre that it’ll never be fixed.

Rumours Spread About Cancelled Rick Ross Tour

Rick Ross Meek Mill Wale

Mystery shrouds rapper-turned-label-boss Rick Ross’s career plans, as the last of his tour dates across the US got cancelled last week.

Two shows in North Carolina were cancelled last Thursday, followed by the rest of the concert run on Friday. The man himself says that he’s enjoyed performing with Meek Mill and Wale, both emerging artists signed to Ross’s record label, Mybach Music Group. This begs the question, what does “the apparent lack of organization and communication on the part of the tour promoter”, cited by a representative, actually mean? While Ross’s PR is going into “damage control” mode, rumors about gang threats directed at the performer continue to spread.

A popular theory says that Ross cancelled his North Carolina shows because of a street gang, named the 'Gangster Disciples', having posted a YouTube video, “criticizing” Ross for name-dropping their chairman Larry Hoover on a track. Even if it all sounds vaguely like high school drama, apparently the threats have had quite an effect on Ross, who has decided to not just skip the NC shows, but cut the entire tour short.

I Will Get Back: Rick Ross Cancels The Rest Of His US Tour

Rick Ross Meek Mill Wale

Rapper Rick Ross has called off the rest of his tour of America amidst fears for his own personal safety after a warning video linked to a local gang was posted online.

As first reported in The Charlotte Observer, Ross canceled his shows in Charlotte and Greensboro, North Carolina, this weekend (Dec 8-9) after receiving death threats from the Gangster Disciples gang, seemingly because the rapper had 'dishonoured' gang leader Larry Hoover in his track 'B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)' and scorned their gang symbol by facsimiling the design on his Black Bar Mitzvah mixtape.

Although it was thought that Ross would continue his Maybach Music Tour of the States, which also featured Wale and Meek Mill, he has decided to pack the whole thing in and return home for the meantime. The tour was supposed to last until December 16th, with Nashville, Tennessee the next scheduled drop off.

Rick Ross Cancels Dates Over Death Threats From Gangster Disciples

Rick Ross Meek Mill Machine Gun Kelly

Rick Ross has cancelled two concerts in Greensboro and Charlotte on Friday and Saturday after receiving death threats from a gang named the Gangster Disciples. Meek Mill, Wale and Machine Gun Kelly were also set to perform at the high profile concerts, though a show set for Sunday evening (December 9, 2012) in Nashville remains on schedule.

Local news outlet WCNC say the cancellation relates to threats from the Gangster Disciples gang, who have a beef with Ross. They put out a YouTube video warning the rapper to stay out of Charlotte, with Live Nation complying and offering refunds for the show. Paul Scott, a minister from Durham who is also a hip hop journalist, said, "I think fans should be concerned. I think the parents should be concerned because you never know. Hip hop does not represent the real street. The commercial Hip Hop that Rick Ross promotes represents Wall Street and Wall Street cares nothing about the loss of human life if they can make a dollar." Dean Cole, a friend of Ross and also the Assistant Programming Director for Power 98 Radio, said he didn't believe that fans would have had anything to worry about and that one day Ross and the Disciples would work out their problems. Charlotte-Mecklenburgh Police released a statement on Wednesday (before the cancellation) saying officers would remain vigilant to ensure to utmost safety.

Rick Ross released his latest album God Forgives, I Don't in July 2013, to mostly positive reviews from critics.

'Red' Alert: Taylor Swift Spends Second Week Atop Billboard Albums Chart

Taylor Swift Meek Mill Kendrick Lamar Rod Stewart Mumford And Sons

Taylor Swift’s latest album Red has remained steadfast at the top of the Billboard albums chart for a second week. Swift’s popularity appears to know no bounds, as she has made a successful and seamless transition from her country roots into the pop arena. She seems equally at home at the Grand Ole Opry as she does wooing a crowd of teenagers at an MTV Awards event. This dual appeal has translated nicely into CD sales for Swift, who shifted 344,000 copies of Red in the last week in the United States.

The rapper Meek Mill made a seriously impressive dent in the chars with his major label debut, Dreams and Nightmares, and sold approximately 165,000, according to MTV News (sourced from Nielsen Soundscan). It may be a long way off Swift’s total, but it still landed him the number two slot, in a week where sales were affected by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast of America. The previous week, it had been another rapper snapping at Taylor’s heels (albeit from a distance!). This week, Kendrick Lamar has slipped down to number five with good kid, m.A.A.d. City, making room for Rod Stewart’s Christmas album Merry Christmas Baby.

Mumford & Sons, who impressed with their initial ascent to the top of the US charts with Babel, have dropped to number seven with sales of 44,000. We’re predicting a third week at the top for Taylor; this week’s releases seem to contain little in the way of a threat to the 23 year-old global star.

On The Shelves: US Album Releases, October 30, 2012 - Neil Young, Black Country Communion, Toby Keith, Meek Mill, Rod Stewart, Katherine Jenkins

Neil Young Taylor Swift Joe Bonamassa Glenn Hughes Jason Bonham Toby Keith Meek Mill Rick Ross Mary J Blige Drake

It's going to be a tough fight to knock Taylor Swift from the top of this week's chart and looking at this week's major contenders, it seems unlikely that any of them have the commercial punch to do it. As major labels hold some of their big releases back for the Christmas rush, others will be kept back until 2013, so they don't get swamped by a barrage of festive compilations and greatest hits releases.

Neil Young releases his 35th studio album this week. Psychedelic Pill was written and recorded in collaboration with his sometime band, Crazy Horse, marking their first album of original material since Greendale in 2003. As with many of Young's latter-day releases, the quality is less than consistent, though most reviews have erred in favour of the experienced rocker and Metacritic have given it a highly respectable collated score of 82.

Black Country Communion - the super-group featuring Joe Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian release their third album, Afterglow, this week. There have been rumours bounding around that Black Country Communion were on the verge of splitting but, with an album to promote and, that doesn't seem likely just yet. The album's been well received in the world of rock, metal and blues publications; the lure of Bonamassa may well be enough to create some mainstream appeal for Afterglow, as well.

Rick Ross Approved Meek Mill Cagey About Dreams And Nightmares

Meek Mill Rick Ross

Meek Mill’s picked a tough week to come out with his new LP Dreams And Nightmares, given the huge acclaim that’s being given over to his contemporary Kendrick Lamar for his album good kid, mAAd city, and the Rick Ross approved artist doesn’t look like he’s going to swing much attention over either, given the curt responses he gave to Spin over questions about his new album.

The 25 year-old seemed almost to be wrapped in a vow of silence when questioned about the themes of his album, "I don't know," he replied to a question about how he approaches his album to how he approached his past mixtapes, adding "Both of them are easy." He then commented "It's more personal on my album” though refused to give an example of it on the LP. Hmm.

He has been more vocal however about the leak of Dreams And Nightmares, telling MTV’s RapFix, "I ain't tripping. If people wanna buy your album, they're gonna buy your album whether it's gonna leak or not.” Saying that fans would’ve already made their mind up, he commented "If you were going buy the original, you were always gonna buy the original," and furthering "If you were gonna bootleg it, you were gonna bootleg it — period." It’ll be interesting see who has decided to what, and with the rampant march of Lamar stepping up several notches, he’s really going to need to hope that his fans will be doing the former, if he’s to make much of an impact on the charts.
