The gospel choir that grabbed headlines by performing at the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle earlier this year have signed a major label record deal.

The Kingdom Choir won plaudits for their rendition of ‘Stand By Me’ at the event back on May 19th, in front of a television audience estimated to be around 1.9 billion – a far cry from their previous most-attended performance of 200 people.

Their performance later topped the American gospel chart, while the YouTube video was viewed over three million times. Now, two months after they stole the show at the royal wedding, they’ve now inked a record deal with Sony Music UK, and will go into the recording studio later in July to begin work on their debut album, which is set for release on November 2nd – with the Ben E King classic included, of course!

Sensational new reports are threatening to make the Thomas Markle vs British royal family saga even more explosive, with a new story claiming that Meghan’s father may have faked his heart surgery as an excuse not to attend his daughter’s wedding two months ago.

A source close to the former ‘Suits’ star Meghan told the Daily Mail on Thursday (July 19th) that “the whole story about Meghan's father undergoing heart surgery was made up. He had to come up with a good enough reason not to attend her wedding and avoid any further embarrassment after those staged photos went public.”

A couple of weeks before Meghan’s much-publicised wedding to Prince Harry in May, you may remember, a handful of pictures appeared in the American tabloid press, which later turned out to have been staged and pre-arranged.

Just over a fortnight after the globally-publicised royal wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly making children “a priority”.

According to a source quoted by Us Weekly, the newly-wed Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who got married in a lavish ceremony at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle back on May 19th, are planning to start their family as soon as possible.

“Meghan and Harry want to start a family right away - and she’ll start trying as soon as she can…” one source told the American publication.

Art (kinda) imitated life this week as Meghan Markle’s final appearance in hit legal drama ‘Suits’ was broadcast, in her last television appearance before she marries Prince Harry next month.

The 36 year old actress took her last bow as Rachel Zane in the USA network’s ‘Suits’ in its seventh season finale on Wednesday night (April 25th), a series in which she has featured from the start.

Of course, Markle is due to wed Prince Harry at Windsor Castle on May 19th in a ceremony to which 600 guests have reportedly been invited. When their engagement was announced last year, she also revealed that she would be giving up her acting career for what she described as a “new chapter”.

Scotland Yard has launched an investigation after a letter that was addressed to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was found to contain a white powder, apparently coupled with a racist message directed at the couple.

The package, addressed to Prince Harry and his fiancée, led to a security scare early last week at St. James’s Palace, with specialists from the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terror command rushed in to test whether the powder might be the deadly poison anthrax. Analysis of the powder found that it was harmless.

Security measures already in place ensured that the package was intercepted before it reached the royal couple. Meghan, 36, and Harry, 33, have reportedly been informed, according to the Evening Standard.

Katherine Heigl is set to replace Meghan Markle in the cast of American legal drama ‘Suits’, it has been announced this week, with Markle’s on-screen boyfriend Patrick J. Adams also set to quit his role.

39 year old actor Heigl will play a new talented lawyer, named Samantha Wheeler, at Pearson Specter Litt on the USA Network show, the broadcaster confirmed on Wednesday (January 31st). The upcoming eighth season begins production in April in Toronto.

“Joining ‘Suits’ was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an executive producer I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of,” Heigl said in a statement. “I have watched ‘Suits’ from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family.”
