Mel Gibson's son Milo Gibson makes his acting debut in the visceral World War II biopic 'Hacksaw Ridge' and shocked people earlier this week when he showed up at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater for the US premiere looking a total dead-ringer for his famous dad.

Milo GibsonMilo Gibson looks so much like his father

The 26-year-old looked the spitting image of his father as they appeared together on the red carpet at the 'Hacksaw Ridge' premiere in Beverly Hills, California on Monday (October 24th 2016), although he looked distinctly less lined and his beard wasn't quite as impressive.

Milo plays Lucky Ford in his father's latest film 'Hacksaw Ridge'; Mel's first stint as a director for nearly 10 years. The film follows a US Army medic named Desmond T. Doss (played by Andrew Garfield), who is forced in combat during the Second World War, but refuses to carry weapons because his religion forbids it. The real Desmond Doss actually became the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor, after President Harry S. Truman presented him with the award for saving the lives of 75 of his comrades.

Milo Gibson is the sixth child (and fifth son) of Mel and his ex-wife Robyn Denise Moore, whose brood also includes sons Edward, Christian, William, Louis and Thomas, and daughter Hannah. Since they split in 2006, 60-year-old Mel has gone on to have a child with Oksana Grigorieva (6-year-old Lucia) and is currently expecting his ninth child with current partner Rosalind Ross.

The up-and-coming star will next appear in 'The Tribes of Palos Verdes' as Chad; it's a surfing drama directed by Brendan Malloy and Emmett Malloy, and co-stars Maika Monroe and Jennifer Garner. Milo hasn't always followed in his father's footsteps. He played American Football during his time at Malibu High School and when on to train as an electrician after he graduated. He soon decided that his passion lay in acting, however, and began studying drama in Santa Monica.

'Hacksaw Ridge' is set to be released in cinemas on November 4th 2016.
