Spice Girls Victoria Beckham Melanie C Mel B Geri Horner Emma Bunton

The Spice Girls’ civil war surrounding the group’s prospective reunion has taken another turn, with Mel C and Victoria Beckham apparently blocking plans by the remaining three members to hold a televised talent contest to recruit two replacements for possible reunion shows.

Plans for a reunion of the iconic ‘90s group have been in the offing for over a year, to mark the 21st anniversary of the release of their debut single ‘Wannabe’ in 1996. However, only Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton have been on board with it, with Beckham wanting to focus on her fashion career and Mel C also opposed to another reunion.

The internet briefly went into meltdown on Wednesday as four previously unreleased Spice Girls songs appeared online, only to be taken down early on Thursday morning.

The songs are believed to have been recorded at the same time as their third and final studio album Forever, which was released in 2000. Their titles are ‘A Day In Your Life’, ‘Pain Proof’, ‘If It’s Lovin’ Your On Mind’ and ‘Right Back At Ya’. The last of these is an alternative version of the one that actually appeared on Forever.

With The Spice Girls Well And Truly Over, Mel C Is Setting Her Sights On A "Voice" Gig

Melanie C Spice Girls

It’s the circle of life – while some girl groups are reuniting, others are calling it quits for good. Such is the fate of 90s wonder The Spice Girls, at least as far as Melanie Chisholm (Mel C) is concerned. The singer commented for The Sun that the group, comprising of herself, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, Emma Burton and Victoria Beckham (nee Adams) wasn’t likely to head back in to the studio to record new music. However, she didn’t rule out further tours, so all is not lost for the five remaining Spice Girls fans out there.

In the meantime, Mel C is pursuing some creative endeavors of her own and targeting the talent show market this time. While it isn’t clear whether producers of BBC’s The Voice have actually contacted the performer, she does seem to have her sights set on a judging spot. It makes perfect sense, following the natural progression from pop star to fading/faded popstar to reality show judge.

Emma Bunton's Beloved Labrador, 6, Found Dead In North London

Emma Bunton Melanie C Jade Jones

We reported earlier this week how Emma Bunton had hired a real-life pet detective to help find her missing dog Phoebe, who ran off while on its daily walk on Monken Hadley Common between Barnet and Cockfosters. Unfortunately the former Spice Girls singer has received bad news, with the six-year-old Labrador being found dead today (February 6, 2013), reports the Evening Standard.

Two days after the dog disappeared in London, Bunton tweeted, "Our precious Phoebe has been found and it's terrible news, we are devastated." The singer instantly received floods of messages from well-wishers on Twitter, "Oh no Emma, I'm so sorry! I've been praying for her safe return. Such sad news. Thoughts to you & your family," said one. Bunton had made an appeal for Phoebe's safe return on Tuesday, saying, "I'm desperate and so upset and worried sick. She's a big softie and I know she will be so scared. My two gorgeous dogs were on a walk yesterday and Phoebe disappeared. We were out there for hours until late last night looking for her and she still hasn't come back." Band-mate Mel C also posted an appeal on her own Twitter followers, offering reassurance that the dog would be found and returned.

A spokesman said, "We were out there for hours until late last night looking for her and she still hasn't come back. Regretfully it was very sad news. Our thoughts are with Emma, Jade and the family." Emma's partner Jade Jones paid tribute to the couple's dog via his Twitter page after hearing the sad news on Wednesday, saying, "Thank you everyone for your amazing support. Our precious Phoebe has been found and its terrible news. Devastated.. Love you Phoebe always."

Christmas Number One: The Race Is On

James Arthur The X Factor Simon Cowell Sir Paul McCartney Melanie C Rage Against The Machine Matt Cardle Robbie Williams Gary Barlow

With only nine days left until the big day, the race is on to see who will be sitting atop the UK Singles Chart this christmas, with the charity Hillsborough single battling it out with X Factor winner James Arthur for the coveted Christmas No. 1.

Only a few years ago, it was pretty much a given that the festive number one spot would go to The X Factor or Pop Idol/Popstars winner, however the competition has gotten a little more heated in recent years for for a number of reasons, and unlike before there is an air of uncertainty as to who will walk away with this year's number one spot at Christmas.

Girls Aloud were the first to do it back in 2002, when 'Sound in the Underground' took the Yuletide top spot. Then, from Shayne Ward in 2005 to Alexandra Burke in 2008, Simon Cowell's creations had that top spot wrapped up like dad's songs on Christmas Eve. That all changed when a successful Facebook campaign saw Rage Against The Machine's 1991 debut single 'Killing In The Name' take the top spot away from that years' winner, and thus outrage erupted (even though all profits RATM made were donated to charity, as opposed to Simon Cowell's already bulging wallet). Even though Matt Cardle managed to come up trumps the next year with 'When We Collide,' 2011 again saw a change in the wind when the choir ensemble Military Wives with Gareth Malone took the Xmas top spot with their rendition of 'Wherever You Are.' This time round though, SiCo was a little more forgiving.

Spice Girls Give Victoria The Cold Shoulder At Viva Forever Afterparty

Spice Girls Victoria Beckham Geri Horner Mel B Melanie C

Trouble is brewing in Spice World yet again.

After the premiere of Viva Forever, the Spice Girls musical earlier this week, two distinct camps reportedly formed between the members of the former girl group. At the afterparty for Viva Forever, Victoria Beckham was shunned by the rest of the girls and herself refused to mingle with Geri, Emma, Mel B and Mel C. "Victoria sat on her own table away from the rest of the girls. They didn’t speak the whole time she was there," a source reported, quoted by the Metro.

Despite this little incident, all of the ladies seemed to be in high spirits after the show. Emma Bunton, 36, Geri Halliwell, 40, Melanie Chisholm, 38, and Melanie Brown, 37, reportedly took the event as a chance to let their hair down, mingling with the musical’s cast and producers and later dancing to some Spice Girls hits. Beckham, on the other hand, had chosen to spend the night close to her husband and three children, as well as talking to fashion critic, Susie Menkes.

A demure looking Beckham family arrive for the world premiere of VIVA Forever

The world premier of The Spice Girls musical VIVA Forever took place in London last night, but the group were upstaged as the Beckham family attended in full - minus youngest Harper - to take the glare of the snappers' bulbs away from the remaining members of the Fab Five. Indeed, you'd be hard pressed to find a picture of Victoria Beckham with her old group mates Melanie Chisolm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Brown, the pop star-cum-fashion entrepreneur sticking largely with her husband and sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

Spice Girls Together Again For 'Viva Forever!' Launch

Spice Girls Geri Horner Jennifer Saunders Melanie C

The Spice Girls have banded together for the second time this year for the launch of Jennifer Saunders' new musical based around their many hits.

Viva Forever! is the new Mamma Mia!-esque West End production about a girl band on the way to becoming superstars on a reality show; a story that has a lot of the same feelings as the Spice Girls own story of stardom. Geri Halliwell, formerly known as Ginger Spice, said that she felt 'tearful' because of the feelings it brought up. Starring in the show is Hannah John-Kamen as 'Wannabe' star Viva and Sally Ann Triplett in the role of her mother.

The show has received lukewarm reviews so far particularly from The Guardian and The Independent with Guardian reviewer Alexis Petridis saying: "The lyrics are required to drive the action on and the lyrics of Spice Girls songs are appalling." However, all those involved were pleased with the result; Saunders insists that she has enjoyed the whole experience. "It's a relief but I hope it won't stop now, because I've enjoyed it so much," she said. "I'll probably still call in every couple of weeks and hope they still know who I am." Melanie Chisholm, formerly Sporty Spice, thought that the Spice legacy was all down to their honesty in their music. "We really spoke from our hearts," she said. "We loved working together and writing music together, and we feel really lucky that people identified with us."

Spice Girls Musical Viva Forever Premiered At West End

Spice Girls Victoria Beckham Geri Horner Mel B Melanie C

The Spice Girls reunited briefly last night, but not for one last show together. Victoria, Emma, Geri, Mel B and Mel C attended the premiere of the Viva Forever musical at the Piccadilly theatre in London.

Beneath the poppy surface, the musical looks like a serious production, featuring some big names in the business. Viva Forever was produced and written by Judy Craymer, who also worked on the infamous Mama Mia, with the help of comedian Jennifer Saunders. It stars West End veteran Sally Ann Tripplett, as well as newcomer Hannah John Carmen. After the show, the guests of honor gushed about the experience of hearing the songs they wrote sung by an all-star West End cast.

"We're so proud of this. Jennifer Saunders has written an incredible story and we have a wonderful cast. It's a great, great show," Mel C commented on the performance. The ladies, most of whom attended with their children, said that they hoped the musical would be a good way to introduce The Spice Girls’ music to a younger audience, but that they were mostly happy to have the opportunity for the long awaited reunion. "It's been an amazing year for us. It's so nice to be with the girls," Emma Burton said after the premiere.

XXX Porn Spoofs The Spice Girls

After the great success of their brief reunion for the Olympics opening ceremony, the Spice Girls have another great feat to add to the CV- they have been parodied in a hardcore porn film.

The movie has been made by 'Juicy Entertainment', a company that seems to specialise in parodies, having also spoofed the adventurously named Tomb Raider XXX, Saturday Night Fever XXX and Zorro XXX. Their Spice Girls movie is titled OMG... It's The Spice Girls Parody, and includes romps with bods of the business, such as music execs, bodyguards, and each other, reports Gigwise.

The director hired look-a-likes to fulfill the role, Danii Jensen played Ginger Spice, Allie Haze was Posh Spice, Baby Spice was played by Jessie Rogers, Misty Stone took on the task of Scary Spice while Sporty Spice was played by Dani Daniels. A spokesperson for the film said "It's just a bit of cheeky fun. We hope the Spice Girls will see the funny side." They have even offered to send copies of the film, which will be released next month, to the real Spice Girls. However, many people are predicting that the company will have a lawsuit on their hands.

Paul McCartney Joins Hillsborough Charity Single: Will It Get Xmas No.1?

The Hillsborough single, released to raise money for the families of Liverpool fans who lost their life during the tragic Hillsborough disaster in 1989, where 96 football fans lost their lives during a FA Cup semi-final match at the Sheffield stadium, has had it's full line-up released, featuring a fair share of star power.

The single, a cover of the 1969 Hollies track 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother,' will be released on December 17th and is already hotly tipped to take this year's Christmas Number One spot. The full line-up is to feature Liverpudlian Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Mick Jones, X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson, Spice Girl Mel C, Gerry Marsden, Paloma Faith, Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook, Beady Eye's Chris Sharrock, Hollie Cook, Jon McClure, Eliza Doolittle, Beverley Knight, Liverpool FC legend Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool MP Steve Rotheram, Liverpool-born comic John Bishop and members of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Lawson, the Farm, the Zutons, the Beautiful South and Cast.

Families of the victims have already been given a listen to the charity single, which will raise funds for the ongoing legal costs as the victim's families seek retribution from the Government and police, who had covered up the truth about the disaster until earlier this year. Margaret Aspinall, chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, commended McCartney for lending his name to the project and spoke of how her son, one of the 96, was listening to the song shortly before he passed on. She said, "I thought, maybe he's handing me this new version and saying 'listen to this'."
