Despite his seemingly reckless behaviour during his airport bust-up, Louis Tomlinson has found some support in the shape of Mel C who said she has been in the same "frenzied situation" as the 1D star before. The former Spice Girl sympathised with Louis who tripped and dragged a photographer to the floor with him, with the man claiming he had been hit on the head.

The star was released on bail following the incident where two female fans also got into an altercation with the singer’s girlfriend Eleanor Calder.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Sporty Spice told presenters Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan celebrities have a "flight or fight" response when under pressure from photographers or fans.

Mel C, also known as Melanie Chisholm, said: "It can be quite traumatic, that sounds a little overdramatic.

"There are times, I should imagine with Louis and what the boys have been through, that they have been at the height of their success and they are constantly pursued.

"And I think you come into an environment like that and it's quite frenzied and it's quite chaotic and you have a fight-or-flight response sometimes.

"I know it's a very long time since I've been in that situation but I had one time many years ago.

"It was towards the end of my time with the Spice Girls, and I was pursued in a car and I actually ended up hitting another car because you don't think.

"You're not in a sensible frame of mind."

Friends of Louis have said the singer was protecting his girlfriend; however, his spokesman has declined to comment.
