Melissa McCarthy's New Comedy Spy Has Taken Down The Entourage Movie Adaptation To Land The Top Spot On The North American Box Office Chart.
Spy debuts at number one with $30 million (£18.8 million) in takings, easily beating Entourage, which ends its opening weekend (05-07Jun15) in fourth place with a disappointing $10.4 million (£6.5 million). The comedy drama, adapted from the hit TV show of the same name, officially launched in the U.S. and Canada on Wednesday (03Jun15), with its five-day total standing at $17.8 million (£11.1 million).
Meanwhile, disaster epic San Andreas proved to be another popular choice in its second week on release, adding another $26.4 million (£16.5 million) to its haul to take second place, followed by new horror movie Insidious: Chapter 3 at three with a solid $23 million (£14.4 million).
Mad Max: Fury Road rounds out the new top five at five.
