If there’s one thing that is sure to create some drama in 2013, it’s Taylor Swift’s love life.

We’re not quite sure why everyone is so interested in the 23-year-old singer’s string of boyfriends, but certainly nobody expected a comment from Michael J Fox of all people. At the Golden Globes earlier this week, where the actor’s son, Sam Fox, made his stage debut, Tina Fey poked fun at Swift in the audience, warning her to “stay away from Michael J Fox’s son”. It’s all well and good when it comes from a comedian and is clearly intended as a joke, but then Fox himself took it a step too far in a follow-up Vulture piece: "I don’t keep up with it all," he said. "But Taylor Swift writes songs about everybody she goes out with, right?" Right! "What a way to build a career." Ouch. That is a burn right there. But we don’t really see Fox’s point here. Taylor Swift is a country/pop artists – if she doesn’t write about love and heartbreak, that’s half of the genre’s main themes out the window.

It looks like all was mended in the end, however, after Taylor herself tweeted on Friday afternoon: "Hey everybody, Michael J. Fox got in touch with me today and we are good. Thank you for having my back." It’s good to know that ended well, though maybe not so much for Sam himself. We can’t see anyone lining up to date the man with the overprotective father anytime soon.
