Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer - Trailer and Clip

Norman Oppenheimer is a New York based hustler determined to climb the social ladder and make connections with all the important people. It's never really clear why he's so desperate to do often dubious favours for people of the elite that he barely knows, but he certainly uses his meetings as ammunition during social occasions, name-dropping where he can and wheedling his way into conversations that might benefit him in the future. He does everything he can to ensure that people meet and remember him, even if that means chasing people down on their morning jog or breaking into their homes. Nobody really knows the truth about his job, his background or even his family, but one thing that's for sure is that his life is about to be turned upside down after a down-and-out young politician he met three years ago becomes the Prime Minister of Israel.

Passengers Review

Very Good

Anchored by the almost ridiculously engaging Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, this sci-fi movie travels through drama, comedy, romance and action as it tells a deep-space story with essentially just three characters. Directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), the film looks sleek and cool, but it's the charismatic duo at the centre that holds the attention.

The spacecraft Avalon is on a 120-year journey from Earth to a distant homestead planet, where its 5,000 hibernating passengers will wake up to start a new life. But only 30 years into the trip, one pod opens by mistake. And James (Pratt) realises that he's come out of suspended animation 90 years too soon. His only company is a robotic barman (Sheen), so in a moment of weakness he wakes up another passenger, Aurora (Lawrence). As they begin to settle in for their long, lonely life together, the ship begins misbehaving, waking up a crew member (Laurence Fishburne) who works with James and Aurora to figure out why all of this is happening. And they'll need to work quickly if they hope to save the lives of the sleeping passengers.

Basically, the film is like a mash-up of Titanic and Gravity. The Avalon is a super-whizzy cruiseliner, and Tyldum finds all kinds of visually stunning settings in its various areas, from the vast shopping mall at the centre to a windowed swimming pool and a few gasp-inducing spacewalks. There's also a riff on the disparity between poor passengers like mechanic James in steerage and the wealthy ones like writer Aurora. Plus a hint of an idea in the corporate conglomerate that's making a fortune from this ambitious project. But these deeper themes remain well under the surface, as the attention focuses squarely on the journey James and Aurora are taking. This may leave the movie feeling rather thin and superficial, but it's also deeply involving.

Nocturnal Animals Trailer

For a short time, Edward and Susan had a happy marriage, they lived in a nice neighbourhood, Susan had a good career and Edward was not far from taking the bar. She pushes the pages aside and decides to leave them but eventually she can't help but start to read the book that she inspired Edward to write.

Alice Through The Looking Glass Review

Excellent

This much more light-hearted sequel reinvigorates the franchise after Disney's quirky but murky 2010 reboot of Lewis Carroll's classic, which sent the heroine into Underland (not Wonderland) for a dark adventure that spiralled into a Lord of the Rings-scale battle. Thankfully this time the odyssey remains personal, centred on lively characters rather than overwrought plotting. And Alice's time-travelling quest is both pointed and engaging.

After captaining her late father's ship on a global journey, Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to 1875 London to bad news: her mother (Lindsay Duncan) has made decisions that take her future out of her hands. As she struggles to respond, she is summoned back to Underland to help her friend Hatter (Johnny Depp), who is emotionally devastated by the fact that his entire family has been killed. So Alice decides to help by confronting Time (Sacha Baron Cohen) and stealing a device that will allow her to travel back to help the younger Hatter. But she also becomes entangled in the early life of the White and Red Queens (Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway), and the feud that grew between them as young sisters. Meanwhile, Time is terrified that Alice is unravelling the fabric of reality.

The emotional nature of Alice's mission adds a surprising layer of suspense to the entire film, while director James Bobin (The Muppets) adds a breezy comical tone to Tim Burton's stunningly visual designs. Some of the more wacky flourishes don't quite work (such as the "sea of time" imagery or Time's hand-powered vehicle), but the film more than makes up for these with wonderful character details. This lets the actors relax into their roles while cranking up the surreal touches. Wasikowska is great as the plucky heroine fighting for her right to control her own life, a strong point that's made without preaching.

Kate Beckinsale And Michael Sheen Recreate Daughter's Birth Shot

Kate Beckinsale Michael Sheen

Just adorable. Kate Beckinsale has enlisted her ex-partner and close friend Michael Sheen to recreate the 1999 birth photo of their daughter Lily Mo - despite said child now being 16 to 17-years-old. Sometimes even the biggest of stars can get a bit silly where their children are concerned.

Kate BeckinsaleKate Beckinsale hasn't changed much since 1999

The photo sees Lily cuddling up to her mother with her eyes closed in a perfect mirroring of her birth shot. Beckinsale posted the photo alongside the original on Twitter and Instagram today (May 18th 2016), captioning it: 'Always a baby to me #Lily'. However, she did allude to it being a joke by adding: 'See more tonight on 'The Late Late Show'' (a comedy show hosted by British presenter James Corden).

'Homeland' & 'Masters Of Sex' Picked Up For New Seasons By Showtime

Damian Lewis Claire Danes Michael Sheen Lizzy Caplan

It has grown its audience significantly in each of its three seasons. The critical and audience reaction to Masters of Sex since its great launch has been incredibly gratifying. It’s a privilege to get to work with such talented and creative people as Alex Gansa and Michelle Ashford, as well as their tremendous casts. How 'Masters Of Sex' Is Turning Into One Of This Year's Best TV Shows

Michael Sheen Lizzy Caplan

Showtime's newest series, Masters of Sex, is only two episodes old, but already the series is being routinely heralded as one of the network's best shows on offer. And it isn't just the critics who are falling for the new drama series, as audience numbers are on the up too, making the series look more and more like one of the year's brightest newcomers.

Masters of Sex
Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan star as pioneering sex researchers.

According to the Nielsen ratings, as reported by Variety, the show managed to draw in 1.1 million viewers during last night's episode, which seems like a much more impressive number when placed alongside the already-successful Homeland's 1.8 million viewer numbers. At it's peak, the show amassed as many as 1.5 million viewers, 100k more than the peak it attained in it's first week. Being placed right after Homeland in the listings may have worked to it's benefit, but there must be more to the shows success than a million people too lazy to turn their televisions over when Homeland ends. So what is it that make Masters of Sex so good?

Michael Sheen Lizzy Caplan

TV is where it's at. It just is. With Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead thriving and the likes of Robert De Niro and Matthew McConaughey turning to television roles, the small-screen is beginning to match its big brother for sheer quality and in most cases, provides far more in terms of character and story. Can you imagine Walter White unfolding over just 2 hours of cinemas?

How Masterful Is Lizzy Caplan In Showtime's 'Masters Of Sex?'

Lizzy Caplan Michael Sheen

Lizzy Caplan is one actress, whose career has been a joy to watch through the years – from a sour rebel highschooler on Mean Girls, through a droll caterer on Party Down, through to her hilarious/outrageous/endearing take on a bridesmaid in Bachelorette. Every role Caplan has done has benefited from her trademark wit and snark and now, the actress lends those same qualities to sex researcher Virginia Johnson on Masters of Sex.

The new Showtime series follows researcher William Masters and his assistant, Johnson, as they venture to explore the largely unknown field of human sexuality back in the 1950s – a time when talk of anything vaguely sexual was virtually taboo in most circles. But we know from her previous work that Caplan in particular has no problem with bending and breaking taboos. She has appeared nude in some of her other roles and is, in fact, not even interested in the question of nudity anymore.

Michael Sheen & Lizzy Caplan Are 'Masters Of Sex' In New TV Show

Michael Sheen Lizzy Caplan

Showtime's Masters of Sex will focus on the relationship between two sex researchers who devote their careers to putting others' sex lives under the microscope. William Masters and Virginia Johnson were two unlikely partners who worked together during the middle of the 20th century in a period of time now recognised as the sexual revolution. The pair, played by Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan, began studying human sexual behaviour in the late 50s when the subject of sex was taboo and sex therapy didn't exist as it does today.

Showtime's latest drama Masters of Sex follows the lives of two sex researchers in the 1950s. Based on the lives of William Masters and Virginia Johnson the series will depict their life and work. Kate Beckinsale Honours Actor Father: Who Else Has A Blue Plaque Commemoration?

Kate Beckinsale Michael Sheen David Walliams

Chilwell in Nottinghamshire received a touch of Hollywood glamour yesterday after actress Kate Beckinsale landed to pay her respects to her late father, English comic actor Richard Beckinsale. There must be an acting 'gene' in the Beckinsale family with Kate's mother, Judy Loe, an actress as well as her sister, Samantha, who has starred in ITV's London's Burning. The Porridge actor's family were joined by fellow stars Michael Sheen and David Walliams in a plaque-unveiling celebration at Beckinsale's family College House Junior School in Chilwell.

Not A Break-Up, Just A Hiccup For Michael Sheen And Rachel McAdams?

Rachel McAdams Michael Sheen

Michael Sheen and Rachel McAdams' recent split from their long-distance relationship is thought to be just a 'temporary hiccup'.

The 'Midnight In Paris' stars broke up this week after three years of living hundreds of miles apart. McAdams previously admitted to The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine, 'Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart - we rack up a lot of air miles - but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not.' And while her adaptability seems to be on the wane, new reports suggest that they are just taking a break. 'It's likely not permanent', a source told E! Online. 'Temporary hiccup.'

Given that Rachel has developed a habit of dating her onscreen lovers in her many romance flicks (Ryan Gosling, for example, who she was engaged to after 'The Notebook'), we were worried that she might've just fallen for a new co-star having recently completed filming for the romantic comedy 'About Time' alongside Domhnall Gleeson. PerezHilton.com suggested a second reunion with Gosling could've been on the cards, though now it seems neither are true. It would be shame not to see them together again especially after Sheen told E! Online at the premiere of 'Midnight in Paris', 'I will be forever grateful that it was where I met Rachel.'

Relationship Over? Rachel McAdams And Michael Sheen Have Reportedly Split

Rachel McAdams Michael Sheen

Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen have split after two years in a relationship together. Us Magazine confirmed the news that 34 year-old Rachel and 44 year-old Michael have decided to call it a day, according to a source. McAdams had previously revealed that although they never spent more than three weeks apart, the very nature of their working lives meant that they had to do a lot of travelling to keep the relationship going.

“Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart - we rack up a lot of air miles - but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not,” she had previously told Stella magazine. She also revealed that the key to a strong relationship is communication: “You need to trust each other and be able to talk to each other and be best friends.” The pair met when they both starred in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, though Adams has been keen to stress that they did not get together whilst they were working on the movie: “Michael and I didn't get together while we were filming Midnight in Paris, which I feel strongly about not doing when I'm working. We became quite good friends, which I think is a great way to start.”

Rachel was previously engaged to the actor Ryan Gosling, though they ended their engagement in 2007. Sheen has a daughter Lily (aged 14) from a previous relationship with Kate Beckinsale.

Portia Nathan is a prim and proper admissions officer for the prestigious Princeton University and finds herself living a consistent, routine life with rules and specifications that she is uncomfortable to veer from. During a visit to recruit possible admissions to the college, she calls at a rather unconventional countryside high school headed by John Pressman, a classmate of hers that she met when she was in college. Beckinsale 'Proud' Wiseman And Sheen Get Along

Kate Beckinsale Len Wiseman Michael Sheen

Actress Kate Beckinsale has praised her husband Len Wiseman and the father of her child Michael Sheen for not letting their pride interfere with the welfare of her daughter LILY.
The English beauty had Lily in 1999 while she was in a relationship with her Underworld co-star Sheen - but she ended their longterm romance in 2003 after falling for the vampire film's director Wiseman.
Beckinsale and Wiseman married a year later (04) and they now live in Los Angeles with nine-year-old Lily.
And the 34-year-old is glad both she and Wiseman have remained on good terms with Sheen, because it means her daughter can enjoy the best of both worlds with her parents.
She tells Britain's OK! magazine, "I've been very lucky to have two marvellous men in Len and Michael, they've got no awkward feelings about parenting Lily and working things out.
"It's so sad when adults can't find it in themselves to get along for the sake of a child. I'm very proud of both of them that they haven't let any potential awkwardness or strangeness affect our little family. I kknow some women who aren't so fortunate and whose children suffer as a result."

Kingdom Of Heaven Review

Weak

For almost five years now, Hollywood studios have beentrying to duplicate the success of "Gladiator"by making the same big-budget historical battle epic over ("TheLast Samurai") and over ("Troy")and over ("KingArthur") and over ("Alexander").

Each movie has re-imagined history from a modern, let's-keep-an-open-mindperspective and hewed to a shopworn formula in which the hero rallies hismen against great odds and for a greater good. He invariably leads theminto the same blood-and-mud war scenes, which are always shot in the samestaccato slow-motion that characterizes the chaos of combat but forgetsthe audience needs to be kept abreast of who is winning. The hero alsoalways finds time to romance a beautiful woman from another culture.

Aside from having different casts, the only significantvariations between these films seem to be 1) whether the hero was of noblebirth or came up from nothing to become a great leader, and 2) whetherthe battlefields are green and forested or brown and sandy. One thing mostof them definitely have in common is that they've bombed at the box office.

Underworld Review

Terrible

"Underworld" might have been one bad-ass B-movie, if only its plot about a war between vampires and werewolves had been seen by co-writer/director Len Wiseman as anything more than a token gimmick on which to hang "Matrix"-mimicking action and antiquated genre clichés.

Thick with mold-breaking potential that goes completely unexplored, the picture is populated by cardboard cutouts of aristocratic, clownishly Goth-fashioned bloodsuckers and sunken-eyed, greasy-haired, heavy-metal headbanger-styled lycans (a fancy word for werewolves). The two races exhaust every trite and tired facet of their respective horror folklore in a story that has obviously, and rather clumsily, had elements edited out -- including a romance between warrior vampiress Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and Michael (Scott Speedman), a human with werewolf ancestry.

When Kraven (ravenous scenery glutton Shane Brolly) -- the conniving, devious, temporary leader of the vampires while their sovereign is entombed in hibernation -- orders the human killed because his DNA could change the course of the centuries-old war, Selene risks her life to save the guy for reasons that aren't entirely clear in this final version of the film.

The Four Feathers Review

Terrible

All sweeping desert vistas and melodramatic 19th Century British imperial clichés (updated with politically correct tisk-tisking, of course), Shekhar Kapur's "The Four Feathers" is a hollow-hearted epic for the sake of an epic.
