'You'll Always Be First Lady In Our Lives': Stevie Wonder Sings For Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama Stevie Wonder

Michelle Obama got the treat of a lifetime when one of her favourite musical artists, Stevie Wonder, performed a sensational medley just for her on her last late night television appearance as the First Lady of the United States. It was an emotional moment, but also a very special tribute to an amazing woman.

Michelle ObamaMichelle Obama gets a special song from Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder performed a medley of his iconic hits 'Isn't She Lovely' and 'My Cherie Amour' in a piano session on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon' last night (January 11th 2017), but changed a few of the words to reflect his feelings on Michelle Obama.

Michelle Obama Talks Beyonce, Melania Trump And Barack Impressions On The Late Show

Michelle Obama

It's getting ever closer to the 2016 US Presidential Election, where we'll tearfully bid farewell to the coolest President America has ever seen, as well as his accomplished First Lady Michelle Obama. She took to the 'Late Show With Stephen Colbert' on Tuesday night (September 20th 2016) where pure hilarity ensued.

Michelle ObamaMichelle Obama calls Melania Trump's speech 'tough'

Michelle Obama discussed everything from her global initiative to educate girls all over the world (Let Girls Learn) to the Melania Trump controversy. As it turns out, Michelle has 'no sympathy' for the spouses of the presidential candidates, even in the case of Donald Trump's wife who was blasted for plagiarism when she lifted much of Michelle's 2008 address for her Republican National Convention speech.

Just How Much Of Melania Trump's Speech Was Taken From Michelle Obama?

Michelle Obama Melania Trump

Well, this is awkward. There seems to have been some fraudulent behaviour going on within American politics as an inspiring speech made by Michelle Obama eight years ago seems to have been half stolen by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's wife Melania Trump for her Republican national convention address last night (July 18th 2016).

Michelle ObamaMichelle Obama's speech gets totally ripped off

Whoever the Trumps have got on the payroll to write their speeches needs to be fired, stat. Or given a medal for making Donald Trump look more of a fool than he already is. I mean, it's a pretty good idea to take inspiration from one of America's most popular woman - First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama - but to take her speech verbatim isn't the smartest move in a generation ruled by the internet.

Michelle Obama Cara Delevingne Angelina Jolie

There are certain times when celebrities should and shouldn’t get involved with important issues. Alicia Silverstone’s ‘parenting’ book, David Bowie’s strange outburst concerning Scottish independence at the Brit Awards and Jared Leto discussing Ukraine and Venezuela during his Oscar acceptance speech are all pretty good examples of when it’s probably wise to discuss something they actually know about.

Michelle Obama BringBackOurGirls First Lady Michelle Obama has used her Twitter account to raise awareness of the kidnapping

However, celebrities worldwide have teamed together to help raise awareness for one very important current issue. Nearly a month ago around 270 school girls were kidnapped from their boarding school in Nigeria by Islamist militants. A few were able to escape, but most of them were smuggled into the Sambisa forest, where it is feared they will be sold into sex slavery and trafficked to other countries.

So, What Did Michelle Obama And Jimmy Fallon Talk About?

Michelle Obama Jimmy Fallon

If you’ve been watching House of Cards recently, you’ll have the impression that every media appearance by a personal of political influence is a meticulously planned affair. (Oh Claire Underwood, that was a risk). And they are. But watching Michelle Obama breeze onto The Tonight Show to have a chat with Jimmy Fallon, and you’d be forgiven for thinking they asked her at the last minute.

With her usual charm and charisma, The First Lady spoke about her two kids - Malia and Sasha - and how all they want is to live normally, without their father – the most famous man in the world – coming to their school. "They want nothing to do with us," she said, laughing. "They really want normalcy and the White House isn't normal," she explained. "I'll say 'Don't you want to invite your friends over to watch a movie?' She's like, 'No one wants to come here.'"

Psy Announces New Song 'Gentleman': But What About The Dance?

Psy Barack Obama Michelle Obama

Psy will perform a new song titled 'Gentleman' for the first time at a concert in South Korea on April 13. The Korean pop star became a global celebrity after his 'Gangnam Style' video became the most watched clip on YouTube, though the 35-year-old is refusing to rest on his laurels.

Speaking to local Korean television on Monday (April 1, 2013), Psy revealed, "The new song is extremely fun and ... what I can tell you is the song title is 'Gentleman'. I can't tell you about the dance but all Koreans know this dance - but (those in) other countries haven't seen it." It appears likely then that 'Gentleman' will feature some kind of traditional Korean dance, perhaps with a contemporary spin. Psy has asked his fans to turn up wearing white clothes at the forthcoming concert at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in, suggesting a spacesuit or a bridal gown.

Psy certainly appears to be suffering for his art, tweeted a photo of himself covering his face at a recording studio, with the caption, "pain of creation."

How Secrets And Lies Got Michelle Obama To The Oscars

Michelle Obama Jack Nicholson Craig Zadan

Michelle Obama was the surprise turn at an otherwise predictable Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday evening (February 24, 2013), presenting the prize of Best Picture to Iranian hostage drama Argo via video-link up. A debate soon erupted on social networking sites: was it right and proper for the First Lady of the United States of America to be getting involved with the Oscars? Right or not, it proved one hell of a job keeping the whole thing under wraps, as the New York Times has since discovered.

"The Academy Awards approached the first lady about being a part of the ceremony," said Kristina Schake, a spokeswoman for Mrs. Obama. "As a movie lover, she was honored to present the award and celebrate the artists who inspire us all, especially our young people, with their passion, skill and imagination." The original idea to have Mrs Obama participate in the ceremony was hatched by the producers, with film mogul Harvey Weinstein also having a hand in proceedings. "Literally from the first day we were hired we thought, 'How can we make this special?'" said Neil Meron, who helmed the event with Craig Zadan. "We were hoping Obama would win [the elected] so we could have our plan executed." Meron and Zadan soon discovered that Mr Weinstein was pretty close to the Obama family, and the Django Unchained producer made the initial calls. "If we went through normal channels the odds were small it would happen," said Zadan.

The initial plan was for Mrs Obama to guest at the awards show, though the First Lady had a conflict of engagements. After agreeing on a video-link, Meron and Zadan were given a private flight for the trip to Washington though told people they were heading to New York to avoid suspicion. The only other invited Oscars guest to know of the surprise was actor Jack Nicholson, who presented Mrs Obama from the stage in Hollywood. Wearing a shimmering Naeem Khan gown, the First Lady did the honours and opened the all-important envelope to reveal Ben Affleck's C.I.A drama as the winner of this year's Oscar for Best Picture.

Surprise Michelle Obama Oscars Appearance For Best Picture Awards

Michelle Obama Jack Nicholson Ben Affleck Academy Of Motion Pictures And Sciences

The Obamas have always mixed well with the entertainment world, with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle listing the likes of Jay Z and Beyonce among their pals. So although Michelle Obama was the ‘surprise’ guest to award the best picture honor at The Oscars last night (February 24, 2013), we perhaps shouldn’t have been too stunned.

The First Lady appeared via video link-up alongside veteran actor Jack Nicholson, who at first appeared by himself before revealing who he was with. The pair were in the White House, with Michelle Obama wearing a silver, art deco-inspired gown by Indian-born American fashion designer Naeem Khan. It was the same outfit she wore at a dinner with the USA’s governors the same evening.

Discussing all of the nominees, Obama commented that the content of their films showed that “we can overcome any obstacle." Continuing, she added that the message is "especially important for our young people" and thanked Hollywood for encouraging children "to open their imaginations." Of course, as you surely all know by now, the eventual winner of the best picture was Argo. Directed by Ben Affleck, it gave him full redemption after the disappointment of missing the short list for best director. With its success, it also became the first film to take the best picture Oscar without an accompanying best director nomination, since 1989’s Driving Miss Daisy.

President Obama's Inaugural Celebrations Rounded Off With Lady Gaga And Tony Bennett

Lady GaGa Tony Bennett Barack Obama Michelle Obama

President Barack Obama’s Inaugural celebrations for his second term in office were one hell of a shindig. To round it all off, he held an Inaugural ball, for his campaign staffers. For the paltry sum of $10, not only did they get to celebrate with the President and his First Lady themselves, but they were treated to performances from Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa. Yup. Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. For $10. Makes you wish you’d signed up to join the campaign team, doesn’t it?

The two singers duetted, with ‘The Lady Is A Tramp,’ although Gaga was looking far from tramp-like, in her wedding-dress style gown, with typically elaborate detailing, including huge puffed-up sleeves. Gaga then went on to sit at the customized, white winged piano, according to Ace Showbiz and played some of her hits, including ‘the Edge of Glory,’ ‘Born This Way’ and ‘You and I.’ Michelle Obama seemed particularly thrilled at the evening’s entertainment. When her husband introduced the two singers, Michelle broke out into a little dance, causing the president to remark “it’s been a long weekend. She’s getting a little silly now.”

Barack Obama Michelle Obama Katy Perry

Though 800,000 fans of her father President Barack Obama were packed into Capitol Hill on Monday afternoon (January 21, 2013), young Sasha Obama's yawn became the couple of seconds of video that made the most impression online. The 11-year-old clearly wasn't overawed by the occasion of her father's second inauguration and seemed like she'd had just about enough.

Twitter lit up with excitement over Sasha's apparent boredom at the whole spectacle, with one user, Casey Turner, saying, "Literally every time Sasha Obama is on screen, she isn't paying attention to anything and I really, really love that about her." Sasha and sister Malia - who were also seen playing on their iPhones - seemed to be having much more fun on Saturday, listening to songs like Teenage Dream by Katy Perry at the inauguration ceremony. In a White House news conference last week, President Obama said, "Now that my girls are getting older, they don't want to spend that much time with me anyway, so I'll be probably calling around, looking for somebody to play cards with me or something, because I'm getting kind of lonely in this big house."

During his inauguration speech on Monday, President Obama told the crowd, "'I want to look out one more time because I'm not going to see this again."

Kids Inaugural - Light On Politics, Heavy On Pop Thanks To Katy Perry, Usher And Glee

Katy Perry Usher Barack Obama Michelle Obama Christina Aguilera Amy Winehouse

On Saturday (January 19, 2013), 5,000 American kids were treated to a pop spectacle at the Kids Inauguration, at the Walter E Washington Convention Center but will it have any impact on those kids’ future political tendencies? Asides from Usher asserting “the youth matters!” during his aerobically-challenging, dance-heavy performance, the message of the evening seemed to be none more challenging than ‘let’s have fun and celebrate!’

The 5,000 strong crowd, Washington Post reports, was made up primarily of military families, public school kids from DC and a ton of “media folk.” As well as, of course, Sasha and Malia Obama, representing their mom and dad, the First Lady, Michelle Obama and of course President Barack Obama, celebrating the official start to his second term in office yesterday (January 21, 2013). But the evening was low on politics and heavy on pop, with Katy Perry putting in a star turn, in a sparkling, star-spangled onesie and sharing some of her greatest hits for the gathered throng, singing ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Firework’ “with gusto.”

The cast of Glee were also on hand with the lightweight entertainment, performing ‘Valerie’ (made famous by Amy Winehouse) and ‘Beautiful’ by Christina Aguilera. Meanwhile, the California boy band Mindless Behaviour might not have the kind of name that you think would get the White House seal of approval but their highly physical performance got the thumbs up from the Obamas, nonetheless.

President Obama Thanks Beyonce For Performing At His Inauguration

Beyonce Knowles Barack Obama Michelle Obama Kelly Clarkson

Beyonce is showing some big love for her country's biggest events this year, as she sang the American national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, at Barack Obama's second presidential inauguration, as well as being the artist to perform at this year's Superbowl half-time show.

She and Jay-Z have been very vocal about their support of the president over both his campaigns and terms, and the couple of couples have dined together on numerous occasions. As she walked on stage she greeted Michelle Obama, the first lady, with a familial kiss, and spoke to Joe Biden, the Vice President. After she had finished her rousing and, as MTV put it, 'diva-fied' rendition of the anthem, Obama shook her hand and said "Thank you so much."

Kelly Clarkson also performed for the president, singing a historic song popularly known as 'America', otherwise known as My Country, 'Tis of Thee.

Sasha And Malia: Life In The White House

Barack Obama Michelle Obama

Barack Obama's re-election into the Whitehouse this past Tuesday will, hopefully, affect the lives of millions of people across America in a positive way, but there are few people that it will affect more than those closest to him, namely his family. Michelle Obama has appeared beside her husband every step of the way, doing everything she can to assure his political standing. It is his two daughters, Malia and Sasha, whose lives it will truly be most impactful.

Currently aged 14 and 11, these two children will blossom into adults in the next four years under the White House's roof. They'll begin dating, learn to drive, perhaps have their own form of teenage rebellion, as most kids of that age do. Hopefully, for their sake, Michelle and Obama will continue their protection of their children, in their attempt not to ruin them in the spotlight. Barack, in this year's inauguration speech, shone a light on them briefly, saying: "Sasha and Malia, before our very eyes you're growing up to be two strong, smart, beautiful young women, just like your mom. And I'm so proud of you guys." According to the Telegraph he has also promised Malia that she'll be allowed to learn to drive, rather than that constant chauffeured trips by the secret service. On dating, he told Ryan Seacrest "I think that any young man who has the guts to get through Secret Service deserves a hearing." Good luck to anyone that tries...

Michelle has been equally realistic about her approach to parenting. "You can't go off on somebody, you can't act bratty. Because you may be having a moment, but somebody could use that moment and try to define you forever. So you want to be cognisant of that..." She said, quoted by the Telegraph. "So there you go Malia. There's your hardship. You're not going to have Facebook for a long time." A small price to pay, surely?

Barack Obama Keeps Jay Z In Check With Parenting Advice

Jay Z Barack Obama Beyonce Knowles Michelle Obama

There aren’t many people on this planet that get to give Jay Z parenting advice but if it’s going to come from anyone, it may as well be President Barack Obama.

In a recent radio interview with Cleveland’s Z107.9, the president explained how he’d warned Jay Z to make sure that he’s chipping in when it comes to looking after Blue Ivy Carter, the couple’s young and enigmatically-named daughter.

“I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with Blue Ivy, who is 10 months old]. And not leaving it all with mom and the mother-in-law." Jay Z and the former Destiny’s Child singer threw an Obama campaign fundraiser at Jay Z’s swanky new 40/40 club in New York last month and Obama decided to share some his family experience with the hip-hop star, to make sure he’s pulling his weight as all good modern fathers do, US Magazine reports. Obama explained that he and his wife Michelle Obama have become good pals with music’s ‘power couple’ but insists that he talks to the ’99 Problems’ rapper just as he would any of his other friends. “I've gotten to know these guys over the first several years," Obama said. "They're good people. They're down to earth. Beyonce could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they're good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends,” he explained.

Ann Romney Discusses Abortion On 'The View'

Michelle Obama The View

The wife of republican candidate Mitt Romney - the man who is threatening Obama for a second term - has been on The View to discuss some hot topics including abortion.

"The good news is, I'm not running for office and I don't have to say what I feel. But I am pro life. I'm happy to say that," the candidate's wife said when asked whether she, like her husband, had changed her stance on abortion. "He could not have, on his conscience, creating human life for experimentation," Romney said. "That's when he came out saying he was pro life. I think we all have to understand this is an issue that is so tender and there are people on both sides of the issue, with very good conscience, coming with a different opinion." Mrs. Romney denied that this was as big an issue for women as the economy is, and when asked if the two bared any correlation, she once again diverted the attention to her husband. "You know, again, I would love it if you'd get my husband on the couch, Joy, and you could go down with that all you want," she said.

Romney, like Michelle Obama, is doing the press push which is oh so mandatory for a would-be presidents wife. Someone should make a really long TV series about it. Oh, wait.

New York City Fundraiser Sees Jay-Z And Beyonce Turn Out To Support President Obama

Jay Z Barack Obama Beyonce Knowles Michelle Obama

With the Democrats looking strong following a series of gaffs by Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, President Barack Obama saw the chance to bring his star power into the fray and enjoyed some mutual back slapping time with Jay Z and Beyonce at an exclusive New York City fundraiser at Jigga's 40/40 club in Manhattan.

The fundraiser for Obama's Presidential campaign saw around 100 people pay roughly $40,000 a seat as the three took centre stage. "I can't tell you how proud we are to host tonight's event with President Obama," said Beyonce, looking stunning in a red cocktail dress and styling her hair into blond curls. "We believe in his vision." A bashful Obama was equally complimentary, comparing the singer to his wife First Lady Michelle Obama and quipping that it was they who took the spotlight rather than him and Hova.

"We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are" he commented. "So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's OK." Taking on a more serious tone, Obama insisted that "Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls," and thanked the star couple for their friendship. A few months ago it was looking decidedly dicey for Obama, but with a series of gaffs by his opponent Romney, not least being video-taped admitting he'd never gain the vote of those dependent on the government for benefits, things are looking markedly stronger for the current President.

First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama appeals to her audience with a speech as part of President Barrack Obama's re-election campaign at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. With charisma and passion, she asks the people listening to remind others about the work the president has already done for the country. 'Remind them that Barrack has cut taxes for working families by $3,600', she said. 'Let them know that he cut taxes for small businesses 18 times.'

She goes on to explain how Obama was placed in a tough position when he took office given the state of the economy but has managed to improve it somewhat. 'This economy was losing an average of $750,000 every month', she recalled
