Mick Jagger has found a fitting way to honour his late girlfriend L'Wren Scott, by helping establish a fashion scholarship fund in the designer’s name. The 71 year old frontman made the donation to London's Central Saint Martins college, where the scholarship will benefit students.

The three-year scholarship program for students at CSM will begin in October and provide one MA candidate with the cost of their fees, as well as money towards living expenses.

Speaking to WWD Fabio Piras, course director of the MA fashion program at CSM said: “I am very grateful to receive this extremely generous scholarship package, gifted by Mick Jagger in L’Wren Scott’s name.”

“Our students sacrifice much to take up this course and work extremely hard when they are here. I am proud of the fact that this course … continues to be recognised as a major contributor to the future of the global fashion industry.”

A statement from the college also added that the late designer had met Professor Louise Wilson, the former course director of the MA fashion program, who also passed away last year, at the British Fashion Awards. Adding that Scott was “impressed with Louise’s commitment to excellence and her dedication to fashion education.”

49 year old Scott’s suicide shocked the fashion world last March, when the designer was found dead in her New York home. Speaking after her death, Jagger who began dating the designer in 2001. said in a statement. ”She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.”

"I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her, Mick.”
