Hilary Duff’s ex-husband, former pro hockey player MIKE COMRIE, has become involved in an open sexual battery investigation, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed to multiple news outlets – although they did not confirm that Comrie was a suspect, citing confidentiality around such cases.

The alleged victim claims that the former NHL player raped her on multiple occasions after meeting him at a bar on Saturday night (February 16th), according to initial reports from TMZ. That same report says that Comrie claims that the night they spent together was consensual, at his home in west Los Angeles.

A source told the gossip site that another woman was involved but has not made any complaints. Soon afterwards, the alleged victim went to Cedars-Sinai hospital, where a rape kit was administered.

It must be emphasised that the TMZ report has not been confirmed, and Comrie’s representatives have not made any comment on the matter thusfar.

According to California state law, the offence of sexual battery consists of a person “touching an intimate part of another person” without their consent.

Comrie, 36, was a professional hockey centre for 12 years, beginning his career at Edmonton Oilers and playing for a number of teams before hanging up his skates back in 2012 after a number of injuries curtailed his career.

He and 29 year old Duff married back in 2010, but finalised their divorce in February 2016, having split up more than two years before that. They co-parent their four year old son Luca, sharing joint physical custody.

“They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives,” said a statement from Duff's rep at the time of the split. “They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time.”
