Mike Oldfield's son Dougal has died aged 33.

The 'Tubular Bells' rocker is in mourning following the sudden death of his son Dougal Oldfield, who collapsed and died at his work on Sunday (17.05.15) at 6.30pm.

A statement released by Mike's family reads: ''The family are touched by the messages of love and support. They do ask that the family's privacy be respected at this difficult time.''

Paramedics called the police upon finding that Dougal had passed away and officers were initially treating the death as ''unexplained''.

However, following a post-mortem police confirmed he had died of natural causes and said his death was now being treated as ''non-suspicious''.

Dougal - who was one of three children Mike, 62, had with his second wife Sally Cooper in the 80s - died while working an evening shift as an edit assistant at the London-based Envy Post-Production company.

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, a friend wrote on Facebook on Monday (18.05.15): ''Dougal left us yesterday, without warning, unexpectedly and suddenly while at work. What can I say - he was in my mind one of the very best of us: a most enlightened, gentle, kind, intelligent, considerate, positive soul.''

Oldfield - whose 1973 album 'Tubular Bells' was in the charts for 250 weeks and had sold over 16 million copies - also had daughter Molly and son Luke with Sally.

The musician also had children Greta and Noah with Austrian singer Anita Hegerland and sons Jake and Eugene with his third wife Fanny Vandekerckhove, whom he is now divorced from.
