Miley Cyrus, her grandmother and Kat Von D – you can already guess where this story is headed, can’t you? The singer debuted her brand new piece of ink yesterday and it’s as sentimental as you can get – a large portrait of her grandmother, Loretta Finnley, or as she is affectionately known to the family, “Mammie.”

The twerker's latest tattoo pays homage to her grandma.

The black and grey piece was created by celebrity tattoo artist Kat von D and Miley of course tweeted it straight after (because what would be the point of a tattoo otherwise) and she added the caption: "Because I am her favorite & she is mine."

It does look like a beautiful piece.

Isn’t that just the sweetest? Unless you’re one of Cyrus’ brothers or her sister, that is. Miley even tweeted a picture of the work in progress, which shows her lying on a table at Kat von D’s studio, dressed in an all black outfit, while the artist works on her tattoo. 31-year-old Von D apparently enjoyed the experience as well, as she posted a message to Cyrus via Instagram.

Miley Cyrus does love her Mammie.

"Love, love loved tattooing you last night," she wrote, showing off a photo she used of Finley to do the portrait. The pop star has been going ink-crazy this year. Back in September, she posted a photo of her latest tattoo – the words Rolling Stone on the bottoms of her feet, commemorating her very first cover for the iconic magazine. The thrilling world of celebrity ink continues to be full of surprises.

In addition to the new tattoo, today Miley's instagram also saw the reveal of some additional tour dates, which can be seen below. The full tour schedule is available on Cyrus' official website. So all in all, a newly single Miley is keeping busy.
