A loggerhead turtle is born on a beach in Florida and starts on a journey that her ancestors have been taking for 200 million years. Only 1 in 10,000 turtles survive this journey that takes 25 years to complete.
She starts out in the Gulf Stream and swims north to the Arctic, before following the North Atlantic round to Africa and eventually arriving back at the beach where she was born, to lay her own eggs and start the cycle once again.
After an encounter with crabs that could have been fatal, she takes the journey with her siblings, where they meet their fate in the Sargasso Sea, located next to the Gulf Stream, leaving her to continue alone. She also sees firsthand the effect that global warming has on the sea. With water levels rising, the beach where she was born could disappear and disrupt a way of life that has gone on for so long.
