This top ten leans more on the rock end of the spectrum but there are also a few curve balls in there. Honourable mentions go to some big bands who put out great albums (Pearl Jam, Suede) which were omitted to make room for some smaller bands who I feel are deserving of the exposure. Various Artists, New Heavy Sounds Volume 2 Album Review


Sadly, it is not at all uncommon to hear some out of touch oik of a journalist declaring that 'rock' or even 'guitar music' is 'dead'. While I would certainly agree that guitar music does not feature quite so prominently in the charts as it did some ten years ago, to even think about suggesting that rock music is on its way out is a daft thing to do. Rock music is not dying; you just have to look in the right places for it. New Heavy Sounds Volume 2 is one such place.

Mojo Fury, Visiting Hours of a Travelling Circus Album Review


Mojo Fury's debut album Visiting Hours of a Travelling Circus has been a long time in the making, but finally this incredible band from Ireland are ready to make their impact on the current rock scene. And what an impact it is. Recent singles The Mann and Colour of the Bear showcase a hungry, fiery band sprinting out of the gate at full speed, with jagged, angular bursts of distorted power chords. Deep Fish Tank is another song along the same lines, with dirty, psychotic riffs and a pounding performance on the drums.

Mojo Fury, Colour of the Bear Single Review


Colour of the Bear is the second single from Mojo Fury's upcoming debut album, Visiting Hours of a Traveling Circus, and just like its predecessor, The Mann, it is a face-melting two and a half minute slab of twisted indie punk genius.

I know band names mean very little generally. But really, Mojo Fury's name does little to recommend their sound. You say 'Mojo,' you immediately think double denim, add 'Fury' to it and you have dads soloing on their air guitars in a pub.
