The hip-hop star, who started his career as a child actor, has fulfilled a longtime dream of moving into comedy by putting together his first stand-up set.

He performed the show for the first time at a low-key event in Montreal, Canada earlier this month (Aug15) ahead of his debut on the London comedy scene this weekend (29-30Aug15).

Mos Def unveiled his The Benny Trill Show at a venue in Dalston, east London, telling the audience, "I always wanted to do stand-up but I got hijacked by rap. I feel free."

During his set, he lampooned a number of celebrities including Caitlyn Jenner, Donald Trump and Nicki Minaj, commenting on the recent spat she was caught up in between fellow rappers Drake and Meek Mill, joking, "I don't care about rap as much as I used to. I love rap but I don't care about it. It's like a big WWF tournament, a bunch of arguing over-inflated egos. I felt the most bad for Nicki Minaj who's in the middle of this rapping skirmish between these two dudes. She's a better rapper than both of them - and she don't even have no pants on when she raps. That's confidence."
